I actually have this exact type of sword. It’s just decorative. The blade is mild steel and the cast pommel is pretty delicate.

Decorative fantasy sword. El Cid would be very surprised by such a sword. :-)
  • @williamharms7582
Wall ornament can tell by the tang is just all thread welded to a stamped blade
  • Very nice cleanup! Someone at one time must have treasured this piece. It was not in a severely stressed state. But now it is a show piece again.

Great restoration! You did a wonderful job. My only concern is that it appears that you sanded out the beautiful, wide mild fuller on the blade as you were sanding out the imperfections. I wouldn't have made the decision to blue the edges but I don't hate it. Overall I loved the project, the outcome, and the video!

I thank you for the opening introduction. I doubt most would have heard of El Cid otherwise.😢

I really enjoyed this restoration! By the way, are you wearing... Jams? Nice throwback, sir!

A beautiful restoration job indeed. That sword looks much better than before. Excellent work.
  • Dope AF results, Lost & Restored! Now it needs an equally dope sheath/scabbard to complete the package!

Great job. How do viewers send you stuff though? I have a bunch of old tools my grandfather owned that could be restored. My dad has a collection of knives that he found after a hurricane flooded a house near us. Never found the owners sadly.
