I stumbled on this video by pure happenstance...i just heard pretty pimpin on the radio and i wanted to show my buddy the video, then he asks me if kurts got any other cool music, just happen to pick this one maybe because of the title ? who knows. so i start watching it and i immediately recognized where all of this footage was from ! it's circa 71-73 ish mostly all filmed at a so cal beach by the name of topanga point, just north of santa monica. at the time, this spot was very private and very local and the residents didn't take kindly to strangers hence if you didn't know anyone who didn't live there or weren't invited to surf there by a resident, you weren't getting in. i was friends with a kid who's in some of this footage and i recognize many of the people shown here, some of them i knew very well. some are not here any longer. there is also footage from santa monica canyon which is south of topanga. i was the same age as most of the youngsters, we all looked the same back then, surf/skate rats with long blond hair (that's actually me sitting with a group of girls at 4:37 i'm in the red striped shirt). seeing all of our young faces is very strange, like being in a time a capsule. it was a very magical time. all any of us wanted to do or really cared about was surfing, skating and partying as shown in the footage. soon after this was filmed the state evicted all of the residences from topanga point. all the houses were torn down and today it's a state beach open to the public which is good i guess. but seeing this footage really brings me back to a time in my life that i'll never forget. i have no idea how or why kurt picked this footage for this song but i think he made a very good choice, thanks kurt!

I appreciate this to the utmost degree

Why do I feel so joyful but yet get all teary eyed and nostalgic and sad every time I hear this song? It's a mystery. But thank you Kurt. It's a masterpiece.

Kurt writes long jams. Nobody does that anymore. He is so good.

I think we've listened to this song well over 100 times since it was released. Sometimes we just loop it. Perfect song. Perfect vibe. Upbeat and melancholy at the exact same time, like most of his catalog.

Kurt Vile is the voice of all the airheads and the dreamers out there!!! Keep your head in the clouds, the view up there is something else :))

Crazy world we live in. This music is so down to earth. Bless Kurt my dearest friend

There's such a natural flow of consciousness in his lyrics that I find really refreshing and honest. I'm more amazed he's remembering these lyrics during live sets, lol.

Kurt is such a chill human being.

I appreciate this song, and everyone, to the utmost degree. This song brings my tribe right to me. What a joy. A truly uplifting, nostalgic song, with a bittersweetness and soul. I can’t imagine a world without this song.

Reminds me of Lou Reed. Thank you YouTube algorithm ~

This already feels like a timeless classic. Man he's so good.

the point of euphoria with his music, for me, comes when you realize he can fixate on a melody and explore it with different strings with different textures. it'll be the same chords and pattern but it's like he looks at it from 50 different angles and takes you through every iteration of that theme.
