Dr. House has clinic hours, just like I do, so today I'm looking at a bunch of his strangest patient encounters to see how close they are to real life. Specifically we talk about circumcision, pregnancy, immaculate conceptions, athlete's foot, sinus infections, cat allergies, rectal blockage, asthma and inhalers. Let me know down below if there are any more scenes you want me to look at!

The "virgin birth" scene was House full on lying to the patient's fiancé to cover up that the patient cheated on him. Later in the episode she brings him a gift to thank him.
  • @dibsdibs3495
BTW the woman did cheat on her fiancé. House just lied to them.
  • “There would need to be a guy sitting between you and the toilet seat but yes” one of my favorite lines from House ever 😂😂

House saying "I haven't brushed my hair for seven days and my shirt is not pressed. You have an athlete's foot in your nose. I'm ready to be judged." Is my favourite line from the show, should've let it play out till the end, Mike!

Hi Mike! For the virgin birth, he was lying to get her off the hook. He got a gift for that (there was a bet with Wilson if I remember well)
  • @lacko623
As far as I know, the self-circumcision was the only time where House was genuinely shocked/mortified during clinic duty 😄
  • @Lana67582
i love how mike passively went from talking about someone who cut off part of their skin with a boxcutter to talking about shipping
  • Never underestimate the diagnostic superpowers of a really creative writing team.
  • It’s important to note that house is supposed to be the doctor version of detective Holmes (one of the main inspirations for the show) the way he knows what’s wrong is simply that, he just knows. No one in the show knows how he knows and no one else in the show has the same ability. That’s also how the idea of him messing up is impossible to himself.

House is a modern retelling of Sherlock, that is why his attention to detail and wide range of knowledge feels so unbelievable.
  • The cat lady clip is actually longer than that, ands ends both dark and funny. He tells her to give the cat up for her health, but she says she can't because it was her late mother's and no one else in the family could take it in. House then offers her allergy pills and steroid injections, both of which she turns her nose up at. When she asks if he has any other solutions, he gives a classic House response: "well, if you live near the river, I have a bag you can borrow." 🤣💀
  • A lot of my favorite House moments are from his clinic scenes. It's a treasure trove of gold
  • @AgataKu
Oh no! You missed the one where House asks a female patient if she's been using her inhaler, and asks her to show him how, and she pressed and sprayed the inhaler on the outside of her throat, like perfume 😁😁😁
  • Make this a series. Clinic hours are House's MD most funny bits, quick payoff. Id love to see all of them on the channel.
  • Agree that that toilet seat line is one of House's best! I'm mad at the production team for not showing Dr Mike the punchline of the scene though!!
  • the self circumcision bit is probably the most real down to earth one house has done, I know 1 person who served and he experienced someone trying to castrate them self over seas because he was literally losing his mind with sexual drive.

The show was based on how strong his power of observation is. He studies people and their behavior and he thinks that what helps him be a better doctor. It's also why he hates dealing with them. He wants to study them from a distance.
  • There's nothing that can make my day more than Mike's reaction to medical shows

So glad Dr. Mike talked about the asthma thing. I've had inhalers since elementary school but only the rescue kind. But after getting COVID, I was getting multiple coughing fits daily. Like I had to use my rescue inhaler upwards of 4 times a day. My doctor found this concerning and started me on the literal lowest does of a daily steroid inhaler. And voila, a short time later, no more hacking up my lungs multiple times a day. Of course, every once in a while, I forget to take a dose because, I'm human. On those days, there is often a moment of "why am I coughing all of a sudden?" Oh yeah, forgot to take my inhaler. Take it and I'm mostly fine again :)

7:20 OR HE'S NERVOUS He said it so defensive 😭
