"Country Roads" by John Denver cover by Reina del Cid
Subscribe: bit.ly/subRdC

We found ourselves on a truly idyllic east coast farm on tour, so figured we’d play one of the most beautiful songs ever written about the eastern US countryside — John Denver’s iconic “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”

We are currently here quarantining after a couple of the members of our crew (not pictured here) caught COVID on the road. We did have to postpone our Philly, NYC, and Boston shows, but we are still planning on being able to do Montreal (Aug 2) and Toronto (Aug 3), and continue on the rest of the tour from there, provided none of the rest of us go down with the bug in the meantime.

Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for more immediate updates, and hope to see some people out there at our shows!

A base, a guitar and a drum. Thats all. And a voice that sooths your soul. Nothing more needed.!
  • Does anyone else get that warm tingly feeling listening to this?

Beautiful rendition. I sang along and cried. It brings us together. One Nation under God, Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. The language of Love . MUSIC. I'm in Italy. Lets roll America.
  • This song has an interesting genesis. The tune was composed by Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert while driving along Clopper Road in Maryland outside of Washington. DC. Back then it was a fairly rural road, but development has caught up to much of it today. The duo could not make words rhyme with Maryland, so they then tried Massachusetts where they were from, which also failed. They played it for their friend John Denver (before he was famous) who thought the song would be a hit, so he and Danoff and Nivert re-worked the words, finally settling on West Virginia in lieu of Maryland or Massachusetts. None of them had been to West Virginia nor knew much about it. Most of the Shenandoah River and Blue Ridge mountains, for instance, are in Virginia. I drive on and by Clopper Road occasionally and think about its inspiring this famous song.

Reina's voice is sounding better than ever!

One of the greatest campfire singalong tunes ever written. John Denver was such a great artist and would be very happy with this cover.

Reina’s singing is always crystal clear and clean. Her singing always opens up a colorful story book when you relax and settle back
  • This is perfection. The gentle sound of the 3 musicians — Reina, Nate, and Andrew — is ideal for Country Roads. The timing of the sunset, and Capt. Kevin’s video put me on the farm-house porch with you.
  • Love the the porch ambience and subtle background road noise. Cue a car driving by right before "blowing like a breeze" 🙂 With everything from aliens to COVID changing your plans and some folks losing their minds glad to hear some soul soothing from you.

Thanks, Reina and friends, for evoking one of the premier mental snapshots of my life: driving through West Virginia, in the summer of 1971, with a couple of my best friends while John Denver was singing "Country Roads" and we were all harmonizing. . . long before you were born.

This song never fails to make me cry, I don't know why. Brilliant, faithful rendition. I would say John Denver himself would have a smile on his face listening to that. Thank you.

    A true display of America's beauty & it's beautiful people. ❤

Happy Sunday morning coffee cheers! When I was a kid (57 years old now) I didn't consider myself cool because I liked Denver. But now I will dig out my old albums and spend the rest of the day on repeat. Great cover!

Hi guys! I am very grateful for this version of 'Country Roads'. My grandmother (93)just passed away last week after getting diagnosed with cancer just one month ago. One week before the diagnosis she was still doing the groceries ON HER BIKE! So losing her so suddenly was extremely difficult. 'Country Roads' was her number one song. I am a leadsinger and guitarist of a coverband myself and every time we sang that song, I always dedicated it to her like: 'my dearest grandmother, this one's for you. ❤️' And she always sang along, even though she didn't know any English! 😅. Anyway, as we were planning her funeral, we wanted to play 'Country Roads' but we preferred an acoustic version of it because she just liked that so much. And then this version appeared. At the very moment I opened YouTube to search for a cover, I saw this very video. I am a long time subscriber and absolutely love what you do. I also bought tickets to see you in Amsterdam at the 26th of September. I don't even know if you will read this, but if you do I would like to tell you this: THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart. We played this video with pictures of my grandmother in the background and my whole family were very impressed by this version. It was perfect. I hope you will play this in Amsterdam. It would mean the world to me. Because my grandmother was the world to me. THANK YOU SO MUCH! ❤️ Robin van Walsem from The Netherlands. 🇳🇱
  • Love this song. Toni's guitar is missed. I love you girls!!! Thank you!!
  • @vinniemaru
Very pretty! Even John Denver himself would have liked it!
