The most terrifying words in the English language: "We're from the private sector and we're here to help."

Starmer is a living proof of liars prosper .

"We're not going to be in the business of building social homes." -Your Labour government 2024.
  • Appointment of Timpson is one of the very best things I have heard from Starmer. Absolutely agree that probably 2/3 of the people in prisons should not be there. Many of them are people with learning difficulties/disabilities and mental health problems. Punishment does not help people learn how to be part of the society we expect them to contribute to posituvely when they are released. Prison is not economically sensible or viable and socially it is a completely backward step.

I voted Green in South Norwich. ❎❎They came 2nd in 42 Seats. We are coming for Labour!!!!
  • Whilst the result of the election is positive for the French left, let's not forget that the far-right has gained 50+ MPs, and the funding that goes with it. It's not over unfortunately.

Alice Cappelle, Why are Melanchon Bashing ? Melanchon is the reason we have a left party actif in France.🇫🇷 I am a Melanchon supporter the same way I am a Corbyn supporter! The Melanchon Bashing is regarding his supporter for Palestine 🇵🇸 !
  • Thanks France ❤ for showing that a real bold left program can make it, and the only alternative is not the right or this "center left" which is still right - same economic politic, same immigrants politic. Well put Ash on the cheap / spending distinction Please @novara media don't forget Palestine - so much has happened please bring it back to your agenda

Wanted to say that your team at Novara Media, represents what journalism and news should be. Even from the states, I can tell you have empathy and compassion for the people, rather than corporate greed. Well done. Thank you. Cheers 🍻

I am quietly delighted that Ed Miliband is back and in government. Like him or not, sticking with it after his bacon sandwich ordeal and failure as Labour leader is what the UK is all about !!
  • People go on about the concrete council monstrosities, but the quality of so many of these new builds are absolutely dire, not just aesthetically but in terms of the actual construction, sprawl, workmanship and literal structural stability. The whole construction industry has been incentivised over decades to be as cost-cutting and negligent as possible, and skills have degraded with it. I really hope Labour doesn't just call on these cowboy corporate developers. I 100% would prefer state built housing, but if they really are allergic to public housing, I hope at the very least they form new public/private shared corporations with majority public stakes, procurement, negotiations, local apprenticeships, warranties, and muscular legal enforcement of duties.
  • EmilyThornberry is no hero and at least The Lawyer has form for a decent position on gaza .Whatever her motives she did a bad thing

Time will be your teacher. Without you realising it, all your freedoms will be taken away from you, unless you do exactly as you’re told. Don’t say you weren’t warned…!
  • The Macronists are not the center, they're the new right, they absorbed many leaders of the "old" right (LR) whose remains have had a hard time finding a place between the Macronists and the far right, which is why some of them (along with LR's president!) joined the RN in the end.

I agree that we need to build lots more housing, but you do have to add clarifications to that. We recently had a local campaign to save our local field (the council was labour run!!!). The field is in an area where loads of people don't have gardens and if it was built on it would become a major flood risk (it already is one so that is a big problem). It is a rural town, but this vital space is so important to our working class community. The conversation about these issues needs more nuanced by Novara in its reporting and analysis.
