Leaving law enforcement was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I imagine, if you're thinking about it, it will be for you as well. It truly took me months of deep thinking and planning in order to finally work up the courage to walk away.

I've attempted to boil down the months of my deep thoughts into four actionable steps on how to leave law enforcement.

If you need anything from me, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here for you.

There will always be people looking for law enforcement careers or law enforcement jobs, the world doesn't rest on your shoulders - and you shouldn't sacrifice your mental well being or life.

About Ryan Ingram:
I believe the meaning of life is to become the best version of yourself for the benefit of all those around you.
Over the past 3 years, I have made drastic improvements to my life. Mainly, because my wife and I had our son; it was very important for us that she be a stay at home mom.
Unfortunately, on my salary in law enforcement, I couldn't make that happen.
I questioned my abilities as a provider, and for a brief time, even as a man.
I dedicated myself to read one book per day until I learned how to solve this problem.
3 years later, we have a few businesses and over 60 rental properties.
We made sacrifices along the way, but I learned the power of mentorship. I know the importance of finding someone willing to help and guide you, even if they are just a few steps ahead.

  • Just retired after 40 years plus 4 in the military. Police work has turned into a terrible career. Young people should avoid police work

I have been serving and working in law enforcement on road patrol, for almost 2 years. I am 23 & a young woman. It has been difficult being a woman in law enforcement. I have felt little to no support from public as well as my department. i have been extremely unhappy, financially unstable, and feeling burn out. I am putting in my notice tomorrow. I am scared of the change, and I am worried naturally im making the wrong decision. However, I have prayed hard and thought for a few months about my decision. I worked with dogs prior to BLET. I absolutely love animals and caring for them. I feel as if that is my true passion. I would love to have my own dog grooming business, and i have the unique opportunity to have one. I feel i am young enough to leave and start over because I deserve it. Thank you for your video.

This video couldn't have come at a better time. 17 more shifts and I'm done. I will concentrate on my other endeavors and the things that are important to me. Thank you!

2 years in at THE big city department (you all know which), and I’m feeling so burnt out and unfulfilled. A perp is home while you’re still doing paperwork for arresting him, and it’s all in vain. There’s nothing like watching a grown man piss and shit on the floor, throwing a tantrum, only for you to be paid McDonald’s wages to handle it. Not to mention endless mandatory overtime. All of your wasted intelligence and potential, any decent cop is bound to have the epiphany “I can’t do this for 23 more years”. So, I’m planning my exit. Thanks for this video.

I was active duty in the military for 4 years, did 3 years with corrections, and 45 years police patrol. With mandatory retirement in 3 months, I would stay if they let me. My most favorite assignment was running a midnight-basketball clinic with inner-city kids for 2 years. Was invited to many graduations and wedding afterwards. I was a cop for 24 yrs, sgt for 12 yrs, Lt for 8, and captain for 1. Wish I could stay for 10 more.
  • @gerryaustin8687
Ryan, thanks! I decided to retire early and all I hear is what Im giving up and all I can think about is what I am gaining. A truck driver taught me this- know your worth. Are you really getting paid for your knowledge, experience, skillset... ?
  • Thank you for your video 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 have been contemplating leaving my correctional job for the past nearly 13 years but it definitely doesn’t serve me anymore and am taking control of my self and evolving my small business 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
