denial -> anger -> bargaining -> depression -> acceptance I think that you're halfway now.
  • Surely he has been kidnapped and injected with pentathol. We need a penguin rescue mission!
  • @nekomi_ch
Engineering student here, the amount of software that is windows exclusive that I also needed for school is a shit ton, this proves the monopoly situation we have with OSes right now
  • @skelebro9999
Only a while until Matt completely switches over to Windows. TheWindowsCast is going to happen soon and we are not ready for it!
  • when he said windows should die it had the same energy like when kendrick lamar told drake he should die lmao
  • I don't get it. You had to buy a new PC, so why didn't you just buy a PC with a Nvidia card, and use Davinci Resolve with Linux? Or better yet, you should have just bought a Nvidia card and put it in your current PC to use Davinci Resolve without issues on Linux.
  • The most GOATED Linuxtuber. It's good that you're so transparent with your audience.
  • @andrino2012
Yeah, content creation in form of videos is quite hard on Linux from what I gathered. Love your content, keep it up, no matter if the video itself is edited via Windows.
  • @igeljaeger
if you want less bugs maybe don't use a ROLLING release distro. Yes that does make a difference
  • cmon Matt, choose your distro and hardware taking in consideration the sofware you will use: I mean here davinci resolve studio, aka DRS ! You said you had "dependency" problems with opensuse. Did you solve that? If you can't, choose an other distro. And please avoid distrobox... DRS is maybe better with nvidia cards. BTW I am on NixOS and DR is flawless there.

We've all had software problems on Linux. As much as I don't like Windows, I still have a Windows laptop as I don't have the time or the patience to troubleshoot something all day - I'd rather just use my Windows laptop.

the only reason why i still dual boot w10 is because i need zbrush, clip studio paint, and easy canvas to link my ipad to the pc. tried linux for 2 months, would never turn back
  • @nfsjoey
Don't forget to make Da Vinci resolve launch at start up so you can use windows a tiny bit less (Also it restores it if Windows decides to reboot)
  • Editing my videos is also one of the only reasons I still use Windows. Even if the OS sucks, at least it's supported by professionnal software. I know foss software on Linux are maintained by volonteers, but when using Vegas in a Windows VM has better performance and stability than kdenlive, that's a problem. Same story for Photoshop, some alternatives exist, but they're either not powerful enough, or they are a nightmare to understand and navigate (yes, gimp, i'm talking about you), so I end up still using Photoshop in a VM.

I have to admit something too, I've had to get a Windows laptop. I've decided to go back to school to get my Bachelor's in IT, and one of the requirements was to have something that was running a updated version of Windows and my school offered a version of Microsoft 365 for schoolwork. I had no choice. If i knew that ReactOS (open source Windows, imo) would work I would use it, but i digress.

Have you not tried going through the QEMU+KVM with GPU passthrough route?
