No-Notch Bow & Drill Method: Get that Ember FAST. Response to #REDBRANCHBUSHCRAFT

Published 2024-06-14
In this video, I present clips from a fellow creator's practice session with the bow & drill. I explain what went wrong for him & how to correct it.
With this video, I mean only to help firecraft practitioners learn a new method & succeed. Of course, should the gentleman at Red Branch Bushcraft disapprove of my using his material, I will pull this video down immediately.
I'm the meantime, I how this helps all who may view it.
good
Good luck.

  • Thanks knife guy, your explanation and photography of drilling a dust pile and ember are the best visual I have ever seen. Great science.

this is the best video ive seen on friction bow drilling, no one else has covered these details in other videos i've been searching for.
  • Your technique is nicely demonstrated. Thanks for your video and all the best from New Mexico.

Good work on the video, learned something new to try with my 8 year old.
  • Nice vid. Tried a bow drill for fist time about a month ago and after what seemed forever, sweating my ass off and feeling like I had arm wrestled 50 people, i through the biggest childish fit…anywho, gonna try your method this weekend. Thanks!!
  • A couple more advantages I can see are that you don't need an extra board to catch the ember, and that the ember is better contained. I'll definitely give this method a go. Thanks
  • @Johnhanddrill
Bro that 2 hole method no notches is ember in the hole or on the tip of the spindle
  • Isn't it easier to tie two sticks together instead of making a hole in one stick for the fireboard? The ember will fall through the crack them between into the bundle.
