Because the gentleman creator of that video specifically requested feedback on his performance, I feel welcome to provide the advice in this video. Thanks Brother!! Lots of good info there. I'll probably have to watch it a couple times to get it all but I knew there had to be a way to do without killing myself!! At the end of you it look like you tilted the spindle into the slot and then back. Maybe to heat the top of the dust pile on the last few strokes...?
