this final boss is pretty unique, intense and long. at first i thought it'd be over quickly like the other bosses but things kept escalating as it went on. it was so intense by the end. good thing i didn't spoil myself before this.
also, this guy has some funny dialogue.

    Cap n’ cuttlefish : “AGENT 3 DON’T GO IT’S A TRAP!!!” Agent 3 : “ ignores and goes in front of the trap “

i've only ever played the second game, and i can say with full certainty that this boss battle is better than the one in the second game. holy shit

I love how in the final phase, Octavio can’t resist groovin and dancing to the beat of Calamari Inkantation
  • If there's a Splatoon 3 I'm hoping we get the type of gameplay the Splatoon 1 Octavio gave us and the type of cinematics and music that the Splatoon 2 Octavio gave us.

After many years, all the games completed, I completely forgot how brutal this fight was compared to 2 and 3 (where they purposely made him weak)
  • Splatoon 3 graced us with a new version of I Am Octavio. And he's the tutorial boss!

i cried real tears trying to beat this boss level with my extremely broken wii u controller that keep trying to hurl my inkling off the platforms

He was so hard in this game. I loved this battle. I hated the battle with him in Splatoon 2, because it was such a let down. He was basically just an easier version of how he was in the first game. Thankfully, the 2 final bosses in the Octo Expansion were actually challenging, but I was really hopeful he would make a reappearance in the Octo Expansion, where he was not a pushover. He is one of my favorite final bosses of all time, because of how strong he was in the first Splatoon and he was very unique. I really hope that whenever they make a Splatoon 3, DJ Octavio will be challenging again. Since the Switch is supposedly going to have a long life, like the 3DS, they may eventually make a Splatoon 3, similar to how 6th and 7th gen Pokemon games were both on the 3DS. I am also hopeful that they will eventually make it where you can get gear, that lets you essentially cosplay as DJ Octavio, either by an amiibo or by completing adventure mode (preferably an amiibo, because I want a DJ Octavio amiibo.)
  • What’s a good threat? Hmmm, oh I know: Octavio “I’ma remix your face”

I like how they mess up and get hit a few times and doesn't just fluke the whole thing. Makes it seem more like you're playing it.

I wish Splatoon 3's story had a fight this hectic. The final fight is great and all, but it doesn't truly test your skills like this one does. It's that absolute state of pure concentration that you get when facing 20 things at once which I wish was included somewhere.

this took me hours lmao. best way to first hear calamari inkantation tho, truly legendary
  • @OwnageMancer
Oh man, the giant tentacles are speaker boxes. That's so cool
  • I am PRAYING nintendo eventually gives us a re-made hero mode of splatoon 1 because this fight against octovia is an absolute BANGER (And for reference, i came in during 2 so as you can imagine- I am jealous)

I just need to point this out cause I haven't seen ANYONE talking about this... whenever Calamari Inkantation reaches a certain point in the song, DJ Octavio stops everything he's doing to do a little dance,,, it's the most noticeable at 15:33 - I love him so much he's my favorite character :,)

Now that Splatoon 3 is scheduled for 2022 I am overflowing with nostalgia about Splatoon 1. Octavio took me about 5 tries before I beat him for the first time. Good times!
