The Planet of the Apes (1968) Alternate Ending is today's same-day-edit for the classic statue of liberty scene. Which gets ya to thinkin'... Would nukes really be the end? Or are we much more likely to have our reward systems hijacked through our devices by the artificial intelligence these big tech monopolies keep investing billions in, just to data mine our souls? Maybe we imploded instead of exploded?!

Despite the great Charlton Heston eating the damn scenery, and the dated makeup looking like cosplay, the original is still a classic. I unfortunately had the ending ruined for me by the Simpsons the first time, but what a way to go.

Either way, "Get your stinking paws off me you damn dirty Ape!"

    I thought I was not going to like this as the original ending and the surprise factor was out of this world, but I must admit I did laugh and then nodded my head in agreement because I totally agree with the point being made.

    Hahaha!! I saw Dr Zaius give an interview and he said the original final line of the movie was "Oh look! They have a Statue of Liberty too!"

    Good one! Reminds me of a statement made by a Statesman long ago. Can't remember his name. He said that as technology increases. Our liberty will decrease. He was so right.
