  • This program has the potential of being a great documentary if a sound engineer would edit the film to lower the background music so the presenter can be heard.
  • Such an excellent presentation. What a shame that so much of the dialogue is over powered by the music...makes it very difficult to stay with....A remix, please!

Can we just talk about how raw that steak is for a second

I love Tony. He's very good at his work. I had to stop the video though. The soundtrack was always louder than Tony's voice.

Ah these kinds of documentaries with excessively loud brass transitions always take me back to rainy school days when the teacher just wanted to relax.
  • Everyone, in short sadly there is no chance of getting the audio corrected as basically this is 3 2003 documentaries edited together by red dot studios/Odyssey an All3 media company. Julius Caesar 1 & 2 and Caligula. It was produced by Spire Films in Britain for Channel 4. Back then David Willcock should have insisted that Colette Foster make Trevor Barber (dubbing mixer) go back and add processing treatment on Tony’s overdub track during the B roll footage or at the least turn it up…So, unless Red Dot got their hands on the actual project files…there’s no hope…as an audio engineer in broadcasting for 17 years this pains me. As these are good documentaries and I LOVE everything Tony is on. He’s much older now but still awesome! And dang Odyssey! 1 million views in the 4 months since uploaded? Way to revive old documentaries like archiving and curation! Thanks for that ;)

So fun. You feel like you are walking through history with him. He is an incredible historian/story teller

I echo the sentiments of a previous poster. Good historical documentary, but the background music sometimes overpowers Tony's voice so it is hard to follow what he is saying. "Really good video but the background music often time overpowers the narration to a point that you cannot understand what is being said. This really needs to be corrected. "
  • Odyssey should pair up Tony Robinson and Mary Beard together for an all exclusive Rome- Ancient Rome docuseries that would dominate all other. This is the best channel for history buffs

It is nicely done with exception of the background sound being too loud to hear the story.
  • @Who2855
Great job on the narration ! At least I think, because the sound engineer clearly preferred the music
  • @naanamora3282
O dear! The music is louder than the commentary. What a pity
  • Such a great production is overshadowed by the terrible sound that overpowers the description.
  • ?... The music is SO loud I couldn"t hear the narration! It's such a shame as I couldn't watch/listen to it,

An excellent presentation badly let down by poor sound mixing. A combination of music and sound effects frequently muffles Tony Robinson's voice which bizarrely drops just when it needs more volume. 1:11:50 is an example.
  • This is an excellent documentary, but the background music muffles out the narrator and is often too high-pitched.

Loved this. Very interesting. One issue I feel needs your attention is that the music drowned out Mr. Robinson's delivery. It was a shame.
  • Perhaps its just my machine (on a macbook air right now) but the sound is really unbalanced at quite a few points in this documentary. Im no audiophile btw- and unfortunately i lack the vocabulary to succinctly describe the issue im referring to. its as if the background music is louder than Tony's narration itself? makes it kind of difficult for someone hard of hearing like me, especially since im pretty stoned atm (i imagine a lot of people watching this are lol) no idea if the sound can be fixed? either way i love this channel thank you <3
