Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics, Happy Mondays and Stone Roses are all very well worth reacting to at a song by song level. They all did some fantastic songs

Oh yes, you definitely need a Brit band playlist! The Kaiser Chiefs are a must, along with eighties bands Deacon Blue and Prefab Sprout, Pulp, Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers... all of them have some fantastic albums.

Motorcycle Emptiness by Manic Street Preachers is one of the most moving songs ever written šŸ’”
  • I am sorry, but growing up near San Francisco in the 80's and 90's (yes, I'm old), I am familiar with all of these UK bands. They were on "heavy rotation" (played often) on "Live 105" radio station, that identifies this music as alternative. It was a great time to listen to some great music.
  • The most underrated British band IMO is Skunk Anansie. Some incredible tracks and still there is nothing else like them 25 years on
  • @DoctorMeatDic
The Stone Roses and Suede are two incredible UK bands. You should definitely check both out.
  • React to the Stone Roses first album, front to back. It is made to be listened to all the way through. It's an experience.

The Manic Street Preachers had so many good albums. A reaction to Generation Terrorists would be cool. 2nd vote goes to the Stone Roses. Their debut album was so stunning, unique and still sounds amazing.
  • In true retro style, Manic Street Preachers are currently slugging it out at the top of the UK album chart. They started when I was 18. This is a long time ago...
  • The Manic Street Preachers have just topped the UK Album charts in the last week, their 14th Studio Album. The story about Rythmn Guitarist and co song writer Richey Edwards is a very bizarre and disturbing story.

JPS Madness were a brilliant band from the eighties and heavily influenced the British music industry all the following are from different genres of music from Pop. Electronic. Regae Rock. Glam Rock . Heavy Rock. Etc etc each one is definitely worth checking out to see the vast range of music that the Brits have made to music over the last 5 decades. Another thing to take into account is the change that British Bands and music has made to the political landscape of the world. In the 70s and 80s the British music was dominated by political protest songs and music which effectively forces our Govt to take action against some of the injustices in the world from apartheid in Africa to feeding the world with Bandaid. We also changed the way our Government acted in the UK to various political situations so British music has had a massive influence on political policies too. The link immediately below shows the power of British music when it forced the UK and other Governments around the world to look at the starvation of Ethiopians in the eighties when people were dying there because of a horrendous drought that killed vast swathes of crops forcing famine on an entire nation. This record was released and the British people bought it in their millions because all the profits went to feed the people of Ethiopia in food aid. This was the first time in the world this was done by the power of music. All the musicians were British singers bands and instrumentalists https://youtu.be/j3fSknbR7Y4 Check out the following amazing British singers and bands stretching back to the 70s 80s and some 90s and 2000s -: Alison Moyet Yazoo Depeche Mode UB40 Aswsad Eddie Grant Coldplay Madness U2 Sid Vicious Sex pistols Spandau Ballet Altered Images Transvision Vamp Human League Culture Club Chrissy Hind The Pretenders Heaven17 Phill Collins Genisis Thomson Twins Boney M Captain Sensible Adam and the Ants Wham. Great to see your reactions to some of the music culture. Paul Weller (the Modfather) from the Jam, went on to form the Style Council, and then went Solo. Still performing now at the age of 60, he is one of the most influential writer/performers, even influencing bands like Oasis etc. You should listen to Stanley Road, or one of his other Solo Albums.
  • It's hard to imagine that these bands weren't massive the world over as they were huge in the UK. Yeah there are some sweet British bands
  • Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers, Oasis, they were the soundtrack to my student days.
  • @ladykaycey
So many great bands. I've always loved Stereophonics.

Sadly, Iā€™m old enough to remember all these bands. Iā€™m astounded that they didnā€™t crack the US market ā€” they all made their mark in my Australian consciousness. Great vid. Good memories. Iā€™m going to my play list to catch up. UK has given us so many amazing bands.

If you've never heard the stone roses then you need to react to that. They will blow your mind just listening to the first album it's on a ether level. The Jam are a great band but Paul weller the frontman has so many different bodies of work that will keep you busy. I'd also be interested in seeing a reaction to the smiths, the Las, happy Mondays, stereophonic, pulp and the who.
