I wanna preface that I think gambling in my opinion is okay, the problem is taking advantage of people who don't have self control. At the end of the day you're an adult and you can do whatever you want with your money but it becomes a problem when there is almost zero regulations to control these gacha systems and companies can milk players dry without any consequences.

Lol the part about the top 7 directors earning as much as the other 600 jagex employees put together is actually disgusting

There is a guy who spent 200k usd on Diablo immortal then complained he couldn’t do any pvp because he couldn’t get into the lobbies because the power scale system (resonance) couldn’t find anyone in the same league as him, so he went onto YouTube to complain (note this wasn’t the first game he spent stupid levels of cash on)

Thought he was going in on 'A Friend' when he did fastest max on RS3, or ODA with his degenerate staking.

Man RS3 is so sad. 95% of the time I play osrs, but I still like to log on to my rs3 account every now and again. There's so much cool stuff in that version of runescape, but the mtx is kinda like a shitty dark cloud that hangs over everything. Seeing other players with gear that comes from the treasure hunter chests, seeing all the mtx ads every time you log in, reading about mtx plans in every update blog... It kinda kills the magic for me. One good thing about it is it's a great tale of caution for osrs. If you give Jagex an inch on the mtx front, they'll take a mile, and before you know it 90% of the updates are just designed to get you to buy mtx. I don't care if it starts as just cosmetics, the minute they push any mtx beyond bonds into the game is the minute I quit. There's plenty of other games out there.

RS3 isn't bad, the MTX is. As someone who plays both games just play ironman to bypass it. Still BS but it can be a good experience

Good job saying the verse right! So many people say for money, when it is for the LOVE of money. Love the video!

"Jagex your game put us in doubt" "We do not care"

I personally couldnt blame the buisness. Everyone would do the same, you saw the chart with the profits. We have to blame the players, theyre the problem. We would all do the the same if we were jagex.

The duke pet has to be the most attractive critter ever conceived.

I remember back in the old days at clan wars there was a guy who would hang around max combat and top gear. I think his username was B E 5 T or something along those lines I heard he downsized his house to buy rsgp. Unsure if it’s true or if anyone else heard similar. Mind you this is going back 13-14 years ago..

It's interesting that the company who just bought runescape is into gambling games
  • It's quite a divisive topic, a lot of the victims of the predatory practices you're critiquing are likely to defend those that exploit them. The crux of it is, people who play video games and spend money on superficial, cosmetic guff are disproportionately affected by mental health issues when compared to those who take up hobbies which don't render them sedentary and isolated for dozens of hours a week. It's not difficult to imagine a future where satirists are creating sketches poking fun at the idea of corporations carefully crafting an industry which relies upon vulnerable people exchanging their labour for "skins", working an 8 hour shift to finance some new emotes, it's principally tragic. History is going to take a very dim view of companies syphoning unimaginable funds from the chronically online in exchange for hollow, digital nothings. I like your stuff Kriibus, but I particularly enjoyed this video, it felt substantive.

Getting into board compensation is the good shit. Thanks being serious.

Fact is people should be held accountable for their actions. If someone spends 60k on a game oh well. That's his fault. Accountability.
