Overwatch 2 cured my addiction to playing overwatch
  • @No_Uh
Two majors takeaways from this (for me at least) 1: Bogur is a FRIEND. This guy was giving excellent advice and saying it from the heart. Really like what he had to say and how he said it. 2: Flats, brother you are not happy. This is not a job where a boss hired you to do a job. Your viewers like you for you man so go have fun and your viewers will appreciate that. We’re here to watch you for you not just to watch you specifically play Overwatch.

as a ow1 tank player, after ow2 came out, I started exercising and lost weight, i spent more time with my kids, my sexual life has improved due to gained stamina. my mental health has improved, even my business is doing way better than before, I used to play this game 6 hours minimum per day, now I barely play it 6 hours in one week. Thank you so much Blizzard for ruining the tanking experience, my life is much better now.

I recently got 11 of my friends together and we did 6v6 customs with voted hero bans and almost off of them had never played OW1. Everyone had a blast and started questioning why they went to 5v5. I’ve never felt so validated as an OW boomer

Bogur is a real one for having this convo with Flats. Respect.
  • @maxtiemann9903
Flats be like "Am I one of the biggest Overwatch streamers because I play Overwatch or do I play Overwatch because I'm one of the biggest Overwatch streamers?"
  • Its almost like this game was desigbed to be 6v6 with two tanks to support each other.

Here is a perfect example, remember Redshell? The sped lucio 1 trick God who got multiple rank 1s literally trolling every game backline lucio? (with cancer) He decided to never touch overwatch again, out of the blue, he said enough is enough, and he bet on himself. The dude NO ONE could see doing anything else besides trolling on lucio, said fuck lucio im betting on myself. It paid off, he still gets hundreds of thousands of views a video, and he does variety only. You aren't the "rein guy" or the "tank guy" you are the "overwatch guy" become "THE GUY." peace

Let’s be real 80% of the player base hate overwatch but gonna keep playing

I don’t know if it matters but in my honest opinion why I’m so pro 6v6, is even when 6v6 was at its worst metas I would play for hours and even if I raged and got upset with it, I would still come back in a few days or the next day. In ow2 I’m lucky if I get 4 games before I want to get off. It’s not only the 5v5 format it’s the immortalities the denying abilities. And I feels like people can just play how they want and don’t get punished. Maybe part of the issue is I barely play because of how fast I quit the game

I heavily agree with Bogurs point about things getting dumbed down. It feels like the ow2 devs are trying really hard to cater to individuals with room temperature I.Q. For example, venture gets free shield health for literally nothing, they just have to use any ability and they heal, whereas someone like doomfist has to actually land his cool downs. Or changes like moira being able to teleport during coalesce, they got rid of the SINGLE risk factor of her ult. So if you were dumb as hell and ulted in the middle of the enemy team, you would die, but now you can just teleport out. And all the older heros are still very skill reliant, requiring so much effort to keep up with the newer braindead heros. Its a super boring trend and I’m sick of it.

Content creators of ALL sizes need to be taking notes on what Bogur is saying, he is 100% correct. Super wise dude

I’m literally in the middle of taking a leap of faith in my life and I was speaking to a friend about it. They sent me a picture that said, “I want to do this thing, then do it. But I’m scared. Then do it scared.” And it really struck a chord. It may be scary but if it’s for the betterment of your own happiness and health, then it’ll be worth it.

The game is in a bad state. The switch to 5v5 was immensely detrimental to the health and balance of the game. WAY TOO much attention has been dedicated to adapting the heroes to the format, PvE was canceled, Hero missions were canceled, Gauntlet was canceled, and all the reasons for the "2" in the name have been canceled or severely disappointing. There's also a huge bias toward certain heroes that the community hasn't been vocal enough about: Kiriko (Meta since release btw), Mercy, SJ, and Orisa, for example. It takes literally a deafening - not even minority - to get Blizz to Nerf Orisa or SJ (remember when they said rail was balanced bc low-ranked players couldn't use it?). The negativity revolving around the game is justified and has a toll over time. Then we get constant details that should be publicly communicated to be a surprise until they're revealed on Twitter by chance (such as curse words - even soft curse words - not directed at someone being a reportable and bannable even though it was NEVER upheld in the past), then there's report exploiting... Yeah, almost no one chats these days, it's so easy to report for fun with 0 repercussions. The game is 10 seasons in, going to 11, and tanks are still not figured out because it's a format issue, Blizz keeps coping and heading in the wrong direction with changes that are band-aid patches that fail to address the fundamental flaws (tanks were already strong, their problem is that being countered is way too effective, which is proved by the fact the buffs didn't change things up much, and all it did was move toward creep, which the game struggles with). It took them 9 seasons to address heroes not being unlocked, ow coins not being easily earnable, mythics being gone forever, and creep being mind-numbingly drawn out. Their solution was a band-aid, as it wasn't to lower creep, it was to raise numbers globally and add a passive to avoid nerfing supports, so now the game is, even MORE, polarizing and dependent on teamwork because several tanks have almost no chance of securing elims on targets that don't have the DPS passive on them, which strips power and play potential away because you're more constricted to being forced into playing with your team in moments that normally - yeah - it would not be a bad play to dive or target an out of position enemy, but rip, they don't have the passive, gl eliminating them unless you're a high DMG tank. I say this as a longtime GM player on Tank and DPS, the game just feels horrible. Let's not forget that not much is being done about smurfs, I've seen the amount of smurfs increase slowly but surely with each passing season until I joined them as well, and now it's common to see 3-5 smurfs per game in higher ranks, which not only throws off mm severely, but it's also something that you don't get punished for doing... at all. Content creators can just make "educational" videos that don't teach anything while they're absolutely stomping on low-ranked players with their GM-level mechanics alone until they get GM, whereas the people who do need those videos still can't learn much because it's a completely different environment. If you want to get better, you do so in progression, you don't throw yourself against NBA players and expect to learn anything or get better from getting absolutely demolished. Then there's my personal gripe, what are they even thinking with the shop at this point??? A Proche skin, seriously? They want THE PLAYERS to pay $20+ for barebones-looking skins to be AN ADVERTISEMENT for a CAR COMPANY? And the fact several content creators hyped it up too because they'll eat anything. All I'll say is that I've barely seen people using those skins, maybe less than 10 in the past 80 games, which is unlike the Cass Beebop skin or Doom One punch skin all on their own being a frequent sight when they were released at the time. Blizz was affected by bad management, but there's also so many other problems and too many band-aid solutions that miss the mark and don't address the fundamental issues. So much so that it's become a sunk cost where they're not willing to admit 5v5 does NOT work for OW, has tremendously hurt their ability to balance, and most importantly, made them fail entirely at making tanking fun (or even somewhat bearable) even though the main issues of OW1 were addressed, CC overabundance and Orisa (who led double-shield, was reworked). I'm not even going to address the esports scene. OW2 has been, if you think about it, a massive failure that has only survived because of the groundwork OW1 laid out, it's F2P, and the title stands behind one of the biggest Trip A companies. Otherwise, it would've fallen off in no time. I've been stepping away from the game, and it's for the better. I'll continue watching vids, but I'm growing too jaded in many ways with OW to keep subjecting myself to hating it more and more as the company and devs take the game further from what I once enjoyed logging into every single day. OW2 is a mismanaged and directionless mess almost 11 seasons in.

I’m subscribing to you Flats. Not for your Overwatch content, but for your genuine love for the game you chose to make content around. Whatever game you choose to play in the future, I plan to stick around. Overwatch or otherwise.
  • @AllistorRichards
actually wild to hear Overwatch streamers having the same kinda convos about OW that TF2 content creators had when Overwatch first came out NGL.
  • @reflectedpoj622
Samito has been saying all of this for how long now? "If everyone is feeling this, then there is some merrit to it, no?" And Bogur is right in what he said. He's a good guy.
  • @LFanimes333
At the end of the day, 6x6 to 5x5 was trading fun and the soul of the game for faster queue times and better balancing. And, after all the pain: - Balance is worse. - Queue times are about the same, with the only actual increase being duo to the free-to-play factor. - The game is no longer fun. It actually impresses me that YouTubers have such a hard time recognising that 5x5 is the issue. “Y’all treat it as the key for everything” “It wouldn’t solve anything” “I don’t have any solution” Turns out it’s really not that deep. Tank is miserable, Support is just DPS with heals and the actual DPS role became standardised and generic. For pros, I think this is probably a lot less obvious than for us casuals. But yeah, OW2 wasn’t just a bad update. It was robbery. We lost OW1. We lost some of the best maps and received some of the worst. We lost characters. We lost the entire fucking format and soul of the game. It’s straight up no longer the same game. And yes: it will keep dying until they recognise 5x5 is the issue. And hell, I bet my monthly salary that the team will eventually revert 5x5. It’s just that, when it happens, it will be FAAAAAR too late. Hell, it might already be.
  • That’s a true friend right there. It’s not just anyone you have these types of conversation with. Honest feedback, praise, constructive criticism and encouragement while being completely genuine. It reminds me of the conversations that I have with a really good friend of mine. Cherish that man.
