UberFacts is a highly popular social media account that posts interesting “facts” across Twitter and other platforms. The problem? They almost never reveal their sources for this information. To make sure everything is on the up and up, I decided to dive into some UberFacts health tweets and research just how accurate these “facts” really are. While lots of these facts are technically “true”, there is a lot more nuance necessary to really understand a lot of them. Today I talked about whether you can actually die from a broken heart, how long it takes the average person to fall asleep, sharing DNA during kisses, cuddling dogs, the speed or a sneeze, blood alcohol levels, pentagon Viagra spending, the effects of caffeine in coffee, the smell of sweat, and the point of our hair. Any other facts you want me to verify? Post them down below!

I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

  • “You can die from a broken heart.” Yeah it’s called a shotgun

Me: * excessively smiling and hoping that the smiles can pay off my debts since it has the same neurological effect as $25,000 *

Went to highschool with a guy that actually had both femurs snapped in a high speed car accident as a kid. He had permanently bent legs and a severe limp but he never let it get him down and he could still walk everywhere.
  • When I was in high school I saw a doctor due to having trouble falling asleep, depression and anxiety. She asked how long it took for me to fall asleep and when I responded "2-3 hours if I'm lucky". She said that it wasn't THAT long and it was normal. It made me feel so stupid and like I was overreacting. She didn't even acknowledge the depression and anxiety. What happened? Self-harm, insecurity and even deeper depression happened and I didn't understand why I was feeling and reacting this way. She had stated I was over-reacting so I felt so bad and stupid. She sucked and I wish I could go back and tell myself to see another doctor to get help. Because She just made it worse by not taking me seriously. Nowadays when I'm not in my depressive periods I fall asleep in about 30 minutes and understand what she said was absolute horses**t

According to a Japanese legend, if you cannot sleep at night it is because you are awake.
  • I'm surprised how many of these were true. I'm so used to "social media facts" being 90% trash unless written by actual scientists. That's why I go to science YouTubers like you to answer my curiosities about everything from medicine to psychology to paleontology to astrophysics.

I tried meditation, guided or not, and I always ended up totally stressed because of it. Just trying to let go of a thought makes me want to hold on to it even more and analyse it. So it's permanent fight with myself. I started getting anxious just at the idea of meditating, so I stopped.

If school was this fun to watch, I’d be a straight A student.

“It takes 10-20 minutes to fall asleep” Me, who went to bed at 11pm: Ohh, is that the sun??
  • @hiya022
7:50 Oh my God my mom is one of those. I never see her without a cup of coffee, and whenever I tell her that it might not be good for her sleep, she says "Well I can fall asleep so no problem" WELL THE QUALITY OF YOUR SLEEP IS BAD BECAUSE YOU DRINK COFFEE RIGHT BEFORE BED MOM WHY DO YOU THINK YOU'RE CONSTANTLY TIRED?!
  • 2:25 Also needless to say that the 30 times human weight is true...vertically, to snap it in half you need way less than that if the force comes from the side, or it's torsion.
  • @bretsheeley4034
"You can die from a broken heart." Of course it's true. If you break your heart by puncturing it repeatedly with a stick, you might have some problems.
  • @Tara-id3rk
My husband got a “fight bite” once- it led to a bone infection, surgery, and permanent loss of motion in the finger and knuckle affected. Public service announcement: don’t punch people in the mouth.
  • @user-uz8sn1qv8y
my hubby of 40 years died of a heart attack when we lost our ten year old daughter. he was diagnosed with this. terrible, and i live on, alone......for years now......and yet, your review made me really try to smile, you know, for the 'feel loved and feel good' hormones......thanks Doc!!
  • @Brownieboy346
It really sucks about that two cobo cardiomyopathy, I'm a landscaper and my boss has had a client for about 30 years and the husband died falling down the basement stairs and 3 days later his wife died because of a broken heart. First time in a long time I wept hearing something like that. Just tragic and absolutely true
  • @Miadigitalart
When it comes to the "Broken heart syndrome" it makes me think of the older generation born in the 30's and 40's that have lived with their significant other their entire life. Most of them have spent 60-70 years together and once the first one dies, the other one dies within weeks or months.
  • Cant fall asleep? "Try reading"... Me 7 hours later and a finished book: "Oops, its already morning" 🤷🏼‍♀️
  • Mike: Kisses Bear Also Mike: Reads a tweet about bonding with dogs RIGHT after
