This is quite possibly one of the most loved Fujifilm cameras of all time. I’m talking about the Fujifilm X-T1, and almost 10 years after it’s initial release, countless photographers are still using this as their go to street photography camera. So I decided to buy one for myself to find out what all the hype is about...

I bought as soon as it was released and still got it. I love it and I also use it with manual lenses. The rubber issue was a service done free of charge by fuji back in the day here in Germany.

This was my first camera, perfect for understanding the ins and outs of photography. I still use it as my daily and even after upgrading to an a7III, I find myself grabbing this camera for when I’m on the go. XT-1 paired with the right lens can give amazing photos.

I own a black and graphite version of the XT-1! Both are as new! I love them and never will sell it! The feel and the sensor are unique. ❤ Thanks for the video.

LOVE my XT1 with the 35mm 1.4 it’s still to this day 12 years later my main portrait set up. Use my iPhone 15 pro Max for the 15 and 24mm lenses and then my XT1 for photos of people see no reason to upgrade the out of camera colours are amazing
  • @abchappell01
That was quite an excellent video presentation. Thank you so much. 😊
  • I just bought one for the second time, because of it's very good price and quality. I also own a XT-2, which is an awesome camera! But i love the XT-1 for it's smaller size and the lovely x-trans 2 sensor. It's better to have an old but gold camera with me, than an expensive one at home.

I used both the X-E1 (1st Gen) and the X-E2 (2nd Gen.) and never complained about image quality, even in low light.

I bought my XT1 when it first came out, as an upgrade to my XE1. Just a year ago, I finally upgraded to the XT4 specifically for better video, bigger battery, and IBIS (for my large collection of prime lenses without OIS). After all those years, the XT4 is still basically the same fantastic camera as the XT1 with just a bunch of evolutionary improvements. I love these cameras. Seeing your video, I may dust off my XT1 and pop on a manual lens and take it out for some fun. BTW, I did have my XT1 professionally reskinned by Fujifilm of North America — perfect!!! ❤

Great vid! Any chance of you posting the cutout templates? That would be awesome!
  • @aucourant9998
The XT1 is a great little camera. Paired with the 27mm pancake lens, it's perfect for street photography. I did update mine to the XT2 which in my opinion is even better (and not that much more expensive on the second-hand market) and that's the one I still use today for street photography. By the way, the 27mm f2.8 lens is really sharp (especially when used at f5.8 for street work) and is my favourite Fuji lens (and I've had some great, much more expensive Fuji lenses)
  • @slightlynuts
Great video! I had an X-T1 that I loved, but I parted with it due to mechanical faults. Unfortunately that was right when prices started skyrocketing. I've been thinking of getting another, but I prefer my cameras well loved. Any chance you might share the template for the leather?
  • @gregwill500
My xt1 was immaculate condition when I bought it. But I have loved it too much so I’m also having the peeling leather casings. My approach was much more diy - I just used black duct tape. It gives it a punk rock n roll vibe that I quite like. I do not think I will ever sell it, even if I buy a newer xt model. Only thing I wish it could do is flip up back screen in portrait mode, like the xt2 onwards.
  • @sameebah
With that new leather, what jumped into my head was a memory of the camera I started out using when learning about photography. My mother allowed me to borrow her 1950's Halina, in a brown leather case. As with this, the top surface held a set of dials (although not quite so many). Your choice of lens also harkened back to the fully manual lens, with its little levers for setting the aperture and focus . . . Now I want an XT-1, dammit . . .
  • @stanb.5261
Have 2 X-t1's and 1 X-t2. Really love everything about the one, except the autofocus which can miss even in direct sunlight with single point- and the 2 ain't much better. They particularly miss focus when you repeat the shot at the same distance- it's as if when it gets focus right and is then asked to shoot again, it freaks out and doesn't know what to do- "I got it right the first time, I can't take this anymore!" I'd say it misses focus about 10% of the time- which can bite ya! But if you manual... Reasons I initially bought it were: size, features and the superb 14mm- even with 16 megapixels it can still take some absolutely cracklin' photos!
  • @owo2528
Love your video and I do use this camera as a daily but I have the same problem with the leather and I'm wondering if you could share the leatherette cutout template so i can do the replacement as well
  • @legomd4696
I just bought my X-T1 a month or so ago and have been loving it ever since. I finally get the results I’ve been looking for that my previous cameras haven’t had the ability to do. I can from the canon R series, specifically the R8, and I’m super happy with the switch.
  • @MrCosmicVictory
that cam leather makes it unique af! nice. that thing is yours forever now because its you
  • @moostomp
The X-T1 is my 2rd great love for a camera body. I started with an X-T30, bought an X-T4 and traded everything for an X-T5 when it came out. I also had a budget to get a second hand X-T1 IR converted camera... And while mine is an IR converted model, I would still love this camera. It's just got that 'je ne sais quoi', that soul. The X-T5 is a true successor of the X-T1 and X-T3. It really gives the same experience but with all the bells and whistles you'd want with a modern camera. But the nitty gritty of it, the X-T3 offers the same flexibility that the X-T1 does. And it's reasonably priced still. So if you're looking into fuji x mount cameras, the X-T1, 2 and 3 are all very good options. There is nothing wrong with the X-T4, but I feel like the hybrid camera slider swung way too much into the video with that body.

The xt1 was one of the first fuji film cameras I looked into cause I wanted to get into their eco system. When I finally had the money to buy one the prices went up and now all I can find is $400+ for one Ended up getting a canon eos M2 instead that I found for $180 from KEH and just made 3 picture profiles trying to imitate some film simulations. Still sad I couldn’t get a hold of a xt1 but I made do with the m2 for now.

My Trusty XT-1 with the 18MM pancake is my go-to travel setup.
