MDB, you should really consider catching 30 different Pokémon in your Fire Red runs for the Itemfinder. Those Leftovers you get by using Itemfinder at the spots where the Snorlax were are totally worth it.

Blue's starter and just Erika as a whole are probably gonna be just awful to face with that 4× weakness to grass

It’s really interesting how we all thought that the hardest Pokémon in the run would’ve been Blue’s Venusaur and Erika’s Grass team, but lo and behold, Water Onix ended up consistently being the biggest brick wall in the entire run! Never would’ve guessed it at first, but in hindsight, I guess it makes sense. It resists Water, is immune to Ground, and just EATS your Attack with Intimidate.

Wow, really didn't think you'd go for the Helix Fossil this time. But I have to ask can you beat Pokemon Platinum with only Duskull? Good luck on this one :D

I think Barboach's biggest weakness was simply not being evolved. These challenges really make the stat increase from evolving apparent.

It's been a while since i checked out this channel so seeing that MDB still does the fossil bit made me very happy

I was super hyped for this challenge. I had never used Barboach before gen 8, because my go-to water type is Gyarados if I didn't pick the water type starter. Then in Gen 8, I randomly encountered a full odds shiny Barboach before the second gym, and that became my water type, and I absolutely fell in love with Barboach/Whiscash.

You know it's going to be a good episode when we get a "that's a weird fish" reference in the first 3 minutes.

Whenever you play fire red or leaf green catch a meowth. They have pickup and are given that solely to provide players with berries. It's a feature that was intended to be used and berries are very useful. This may be helpful information in the future.

I assume the demands to ban Return come from the fact that almost anything can learn it, whereas other similarly powerful moves (like Surf) are not nearly as omni-applicable. Not every run is gonna use a Pokémon that can use Surf, but you're gonna be hard-pressed to find a Pokémon that can't use Return. So I can see why some might consider it an "easy way out" or just boring viewing. That said, I don't have any problems with it myself. It's a resource in the game, just like Leftovers or any other especially good Held Item, and if you start banning stuff like this simply for being the easy answer, you're gonna end-up banning a whole lot more than just one TM move.

I'd love to see a trapinch in Emerald challenge, or maybe Platinum you atleast get the physical special split to help

With the Return love/hate perhaps a Frustration run? Iirc Buneary learns it by level up so might be a good starter.

I think I’m the only one who loves the barboach line. Both are pretty derpy looking and gives them style points. Plus they learn odd moves like zen headbutt which is weird but I like it.

Gonna repeat this request since I think it's got some fun potential. Can you beat Pokemon Ruby while only using Skitty/Delcatty with Assist? You can add any caught pokemon to your party to build your movepool, but you cannot use them in battle or use things like switch leveling or EXP share to level them for new moves. You can use TMs/HMs on them though, but you can only use Assist in battle.
