== SYNOPSIS ==

The days of the Caliphate of Cordoba, which once held supremacy over the Iberian Peninsula, are long over. 'Islamic Spain', known as Al Andalus has entered into its swan song years. The powerful Christian Kingdoms of Iberia are ready to strike the final blow. However, in midst of this chaotic time, a new kingdom arises and with it, a new dynasty. The Nasrid come to power and through luck, cunning, and shear audacity hold power in Granada for over 260 years. But, despite leaving an impressive cultural legacy, the Nasrid Dynasty is destined to be the Last Kingdom of Islam of the Reconquista.

Folks, this brings Episode XI - The Last Kingdom of Islam to a close. We will be taking a side journey through the Fall of Constantinople next and then will return for Episode XII: Reconquista - Isabella for the final chapter in Al Andalus. Couple of items: 1) Please don't forget to share this video on social Media and spread word about the podcast - this is an often neglected time period in history. 2) Big favor for the Apple / Podcast people in audience. Please hit that purple podcast button on your phone, search for Flash Point History and leave me a decent rating / review. It takes just a few moments - this helps out a lot! 3) I'm working on the Bonus Episode on Constantinople - I'll have it up in a few weeks. Everyone stay safe in the mean time!

God bless the heroic peoples of Spain who fought relentlessly for centuries to liberate their home! An epic struggle!

"Flash Point History deserves 100k subs." -Sun Tzu, The Art of War
  • Sir, I learn more history in an hour with you that I ever learmt in school. I love your channel, the way you narrate, the sources you quote...also, the way you interact with your viewers. It speaks volumes about you the fact that you listened to someone who wrote a comment saying that The Black Prince never actually became King of England and you corrected it in this new version. Well done, sir. My respect and recognition.

You do a really good job of connecting the time periods of ruler to ruler. Thanks for the video I love them
  • @edd2898
I enjoyed each and every minute of this. Thank you so, so much for doing what you do. You are the history teacher I never had

I don't understand, how can this channel be so great yet so small! New sub here, please keep it up!

A real shame that the subject isn’t interesting to a wider audience, seeing so few views on a video with so much effort clearly put into it saddens me.
  • In a way or another Granada share the story of Constantinople, both of them had survived much more than they believed. By their end new age had begun; the reneciance and age of discovery.

Caliph Omar ibn Abdul Aziz, when he read the rapport of his governor As-Samh ibn Malik al-Khawlani about the situation of Andalusia, he was shocked by the huge number of Christians in the peninsular & suggested that they be all transferred and distributed in the Islamic world, but Al-Samh reassured him saying that Islam is spreading among them and that they will not pose a threat to the Islamic existence The demographic factor contributed a lot to the success of La Reconquista in the long term

wow!!! even if I already knew a lot, I have learned so much! as a latinamerican it is always instructive to know the history of the Iberian Peninsula, and besides I am a great admirer of Al Andalus, that inherited us so many things. I have seen other videos (the Greeks in Asia, Persian Empire, Roman trade with Asia, the Mongol Empire, etc) and every one of them is very amusing and highly instructive! thanks!

What a treat to wake up to new Flash Point History content. The quality and amount of work you put into your videos is just incredible. Been waiting on this since I finished your last Reconquista series. I could not find anything on this period that even touches what you do. Wishing you many more subs and success going forward, you deserve it.
  • @LGP04
I'm just in love with you channel man. I even listen to the podcasts in the gym. Thinking about supporting you on patreon. Really good job mate
  • @Mr67Stanger
Well done! Enjoyed the heck out of this great documentary. I descend from Peter the Cruel through his son Infante Juan, his son Pedro de Castilla y Eril, his daughter Aldonza ...all the way to yours truly.
  • @bear499
Excellent choice for the thumbnail. I love these long compilations of episodes back to back because it makes it so much easier to download. I sometimes go on 6 to 10 hour plane trips and these videos have really help me pass the time. They've also been instrumental as sources and as a means of acquiring new sources for this period of history. Thanks for all the hard work and can't wait to see your Constantinople video. I've always found Constantine XI's final stand to be quite inspiring.
  • @Jonnesdeknost
How do you not have more subs? The quality is amazing. New sub right here.
