Tips I learned while sculpting a horse head in Sculpey polymer clay

Publicado 2024-03-09
I'd love to share my tips of how I learned to sculpt realistic horses in Super Sculpey polymer clay as I sculpt a draft horse head portrait in low relief. This project is part of my journey to learn everything I can about realistic horse sculpture, and I’ll share my tools, tips and what I learned along the way.

I publish videos once a month sharing my adventures in creating animal art in my free time for my own enjoyment, like sculpture, painting, printmaking and more. If you enjoy watching the adventures of an artist making things by hand, and sometimes learning something new, I’d love to show you what I make next!

  • Thank you so much to everyone who watched, commented and liked this video! I’m so happy we’re starting to build a little community as I share my passion projects! And I hope you’re enjoying this longer, more cozy video style I’m working on for the channel 😊
  • This is great!! After seeing your approach I took a stab at it myself and I am LOVING the process. Thanks for inspiring me to pick up some clay for the first time in years!

So much joy! I’ve been waiting for a good relief video. I would always make a mold. Since it’s a simple mold. I don’t think you need to worry about undercuts if you use a silicone .. I sure hope you make more videos. And much longer. It’s so relaxing. To me , it’s the best video of the year so far. And I watch many. Thank you
  • I don’t even paint and I’d love to have a plaque of that horse. He turned out super!
  • @AdaWolfray
He's so stunning 😍 You're my number one inspiration ^^

I've been a quiet follower of your work for a little while now and I just wanted to say thank you so much making this content! You've taught me so much and inspired me take up model horse crafts (just painting and customizing right now, but I would love to try sculpting a medallion some day!) As for this guy, I do hope you decide to cast him! I think it'd be great to see him done up in different colors 😊
  • You did a beautiful job! I might try my hand at making a medallion someday.

Can you add a link for the clay in the comments? I would like to try this but want to be sure I purchase the right medium. TIA!!
