I'm so hyped for the 26 hour long mega compilation when this series ends in 12 years
  • "The shores of Iceland hold the legend of a terrifying beast"

Shows drawing of comically depressed looking armadillo guy
  • @astrid1660
Love Wendi dissing lake monsters while a Nessie pendant is on the wall right behind him
  • It cracks me up when he goes a tangent about larger sized versions of animals and just ends it with, "Dont care big monkey moving on."

Okay this is a serious long shot but I need your help. I had a college roommate who I became good friends with, and one of the things we originally found we had in common was that we both watched wendigoon back when he had like 50-100k, mid to late 2021. His name was Jaime (pronounced Hi-may), and he was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. I lost contact with him like early 2023, I think he got a new number or something, and I’ve tried everything I can think of to find him, but he didn’t have any social media or anything like that and nothing through our college. This is the last place I can think of to try to find him. Just hoping maybe he or someone he knows might see this.

As someone who specializes in Wisconsin Lore, I LOVE that the hodag has earned S-Tier. But I would like to expand on the part about how it rises from the ashes of an ox. It isn't just an ox that has been mistreated by its ox driver, in the original story it is SPECIFICALLY an ox that has suffered extensive verbal abuse and swear words at the hands of many different ox drivers who all spoke different languages. At the time in Wisconsin, there was a lot of immigrants in the lumber trade, ox drivers were notoriously surly, and oxen would often trade hands between drivers several times during their lives. It is only when an ox accumulates enough verbal abuse and swear words hurled at it in different languages that the ox is at risk of becoming a hodag.

Furthermore, it doesn't necessarily rise from the ashes of an ox, but ANY verbally abused ox will rise UNLESS it is cremated for at least seven years (to burn away the bad vibes I guess). It can rise from an uncremated corpse as well, but it rises from the ashes whenever the cremator fails to burn the ox for long enough (which is, again, seven years of cremation).

"It's Cool, it's Creepy, it's Classic, and you know what that means -> it's B tier"
the C-alliteration and then B-tier hit my brain at SUCH a right angle

I think a cool idea would be to put a world map up behind you. pin the locations on the world for each cryptid.

What I love most about Wendi is his dedication to having an entire whiteboard with detail on it in all his videos…that is 99% of the time completely illegible to the viewer 😂

For the megaconda, iirc Jeremy Wade, the dude who did the River Monsters show, did an episode on Anacondas where he found a massive shed snake skin and what appeared to be a burrow.

"The thought of a giant sturgeon is scary" try living in SE Texas with water full of monsters. The concept of being in water is terrifying but what scares me the most is Alligator Gar, after one snuck up on me while I was swimming in a river. I never even saw it till it was about 5 feet away in waist deep water, completely still and broadsiding me to probably make himself known or size me up, if the water was any murkier I never would have saw him creep up on me. I'm sure it wasn't gonna do anything hostile but I was only 10 at the time and having flashbacks to Finding Nemo's Barracuda so I just shuffled away as calmly I could and I've had an irrational fear of them ever since. And don't get me started on Catfish, one Bayou I used to visit had Catfish skulls the size of a man's torso tied to trees as trophies.

Who needs a New Year's Eve party when you can binge watch the cryptid videos 🔥😤
  • @Vanos_Carea
I could legitimately listen to wendigoon talk about his favorite colors of paint and be satisfied with it.
  • @RIANDOA
Iceland's cryptid scene is LEGIT, Skeljaskrimsli is such a cool creature. They even have a museum devoted to sea monsters.

I'm Australian and the idea of a giant rabbit crypid really just being wallabies or kangaroos is absolutly *sending me*, I love it
  • @CBleck
We really need a cryptid iceberg that's ranked by mouth-feel

As someone from the Great Lakes region who grew up hearing the stories and has had an encounter with one personally, Skinwalkers are definitely real and you should not ever fuck around with them. The reason that they're called "Skinwalkers" is because they don't just mimic the sounds and voices of others, but they literally wear the skin of their last victim as camouflage and take its form. That's why you will also hear them called "Not Deer," because you will usually see them in the forest wearing the skin of a deer, but when you watch them for a minute you will get this deep feeling down in your gut that they are Not A Deer.

The encounter I had was with a Not Deer, and I was very lucky that I was near my home because Skinwalkers don't like to be seen and prefer to ambush their prey as opposed to chasing it down. So long as you don't stare and don't show fear, they don't tend to chase you, but that's NOT a guarantee. The best way to stay safe from them out in the woods is to act like the smartest person in a horror movie: Don't investigate strange noises, don't approach voices whose source you cant identify and/or do not directly respond to your questions, always stay in areas that are well lit and clearly marked, and always run from potential danger before you determine if it's ACTUAL danger because by then it's too late.
