Today is our first day in Cusco, Peru, and we're going on one of the most popular day trips of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

First stop is at an alpaca/llama farm where we got a chance to hand feed these cute, cuddly animals. We learned about the 4 different types of South American camels, the weaving and dying process of alpaca goods, as well as the surprising health benefits of eating guinea pig? Check out our other video on this delicious local delicacy -

Pisac is one of the most famous ruins in Cusco and Peru. The iconic Inca terraces surrounded by the golden hills is really a sight to behold. Don't underestimate the altitude! Even walking up a couple of flights of stairs to the top of the ruins was pretty difficult.

Last stop of the day was at Ollantaytambo, another famous town in the Sacred Valley. The ruins here were just as impressive as Pisac, but what was more unique was the flea market nearby selling all sorts of souvenirs.

  • Indeed the incas were the last super power native civilization of the continent before the arrival of Europe. The first men in Peru arrive somewhere between 14 to 18 thousand years ago but the first civilization of ancient PerΓΊ and the entire Americas appeared between 4 to 5 thousand years ago in the city of Caral. To this date peruvian archaeologist keep finding even older estructures than Caral but they need further investigation to know if there were consider cities or just little towns. Getting back to the incas they were the last and they learn alot of things of the other "brother" civilizations that coesxisted with them at that time before they were conquered and after the became the empire in the 1430's.
