She said she would before she was voted in. You get what you vote for.

Why should taxpayers pay for immigration
-
Chow openly stated in her campaign that she'll raise taxes when she's mayor though, how can majority of y'all be surprised that the taxes are increasing?
-
It is literally becoming unbearable to live in Canada and less attractive day by day, we are now facing another property tax in Ontario as much as 16% is not only absurd it sends a clear message to Canadians to look for greener pastures...
-
Yeah like Toronto needed to spend money on renaming streets . Common sense right out the window
-
Mortgage rate hikes, carbon taxes, and now a 16.5% proprty tax hike? What idiots voted for Chow?

As a life long Torontonian, this is the nightmare envisioned when Chow was elected Mayor. As a senior on a fixed pension, the pension never increases and everyone wants a bigger piece of my meager pie. These increases in taxes are designed to allow City Hall to operate in their wasteful "business as usual" mode. No visible spending cuts, no analysis of core services. The Mayor that campaigned on an "affordable city" and she has just slapped every homeowner, condo owner and Toronto renter in the face. Many millions of dollars being wasted on unproven traffic calming and bicycle lanes that are choking transportation throughout the city. How about a moratorium on bike lanes for 3 years until the debt is under control? People aren't realizing that a single speed bump costs the City over $30 thousand dollars to install. The total taxes of six average Toronto homes to construct a single bump. Suspend any action to rename Dundas Street and the 8 Million dollar expenditure, until the Toronto debt is cleared. How about a 50% reduction in spring flower planting in parks and streetscapes for just 3 years. If the other levels of government are failing to support the fallout of immigration, then stop doing the federal government's job. Torontonians and all Canadians are facing huge financial pressures and those pressures are pushing and pulling from every direction. We know how to "cut back" and we've been doing it, over and over and over for year, after year, after year and for many THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO CUT BACK. The City and all levels of government continue to perform like a "Dead-Beat Dad"; Constantly crying that they can't afford to pay their alimony payments or child support, while they buy a brand new car or fly to holiday destinations. What Toronto can't afford is Olivia Chow.

Now we as torontonians are paying big price for voting for Mayor Chao. It’s nightmare!! She is holding us hostage. She must resign.
-
This is great news! Toronto deserves this. They voted for this.
-
You vote Liberal in the Fed Election, you’d think YYZ would learn not to vote in a NDP Mayor. You voted for her!
-
Lmaoooo. Literally everybody was calling it and Toronto still voted her in. Toronto is going to sleep in the bed they made and I’m loving it

"Most of the great problems we face are caused by politicians, bureaucrats, financiers, bankers, and kindred; creating solutions to problems they created in the first place." - Walter E. Williams
-
People voted for this!? I still don’t understand it
-
Congrats Toronto for voting in such an extreme left wing mayor.
-
More homelessness on the way, longer lines at the food banks. Never ending greed and inflation. Quality of life in Canada is on a downward spiral.
-
The big problem accross Canada is that municipalities across the country have gotten away from their basic responsibilities and are trying to give in to all request from special interest groups, and their solution is to raise taxes to pay for it.
-
Once taxes go up, they never go down! You are screwed!
-
When will voters learn this is what you get when you vote NDP or Liberal (one and the same)
-
Don’t feel so bad!2 years ago my municipal tax bill went up 43%.The next year another 17 %.this year another 22%.I now pay over $1000.00 per year for garbage collection and water.water being the lions share of that bill. But in the summer, every year, our water is rationed to the point where we are breaking the law if we use water outdoors for growing food.No outdoor water use is allowed.this is the Sunshine Coast of BC where we are surrounded by rain forest and dozens of lakes. The SCRD steals our money for the operation of the water system and then shuts off the water.of course they blame it on past administrations from 40 years ago.

You get what you vote for. Congratulations Toronto.
