This was right around the time I moved to SoCal from the Midwest., so this all looks very normal/familiar including how people are dressed, the cars on the street, and even the colors of the old RTD buses. To the person below who thinks everyone in this clip is either dead or in an old folks home now, not quite. I was 21 then and I'm still doing fine, thanks.

This is the Hollywood I remember as a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s and later into the 90s...But this is so cool to see these types of videos...🤩♥️...thank you for sharing this video!!!!🖐
  • From '77 to '84 I lived 1 block from Hollywood and Vine and every frame in that clip was of my daily routine.I also knew the "Dancing Lady" you've seen and she is the nicest person you would ever meet she will smile and talk to anyone. She dances to pay the Lord for making her well again and wont stop dancing.

03:05 is Dorothy the Button Lady. I posted about her but it was yanked. We miss you Dorothy RIP.

Last gasps of the disco era, before New Wave swept aside bell bottoms for leg warmers and shoulder pads.
  • I used to live one block south of Hollywood Blvd during this time. I recognize the lady from 2:48-3:15. I was hoping to see "Captain Jet", he was a regular on the boulevard, like that lady, that was an older gentleman dressed in an Air Force uniform, with a bunch of different colored plastic toy jets hooked onto his hat.

I was 10 in 1980. By 1984 I was obsessed with Motley Crue and desperately wanted to go to Hollywood but never made it there until 2007. I hate myself for not living my dream.

My fav parts: 0:38 - guy who almost gets whacked in the face, keeps walking with no issue about it. 3:00 - crazy lady, much cleaner and well put together than today's crazy lady. 3:35 - grade school kid walking down the street with no supervision. Totally normal back then; no big deal, no police/CPS called. Also, I heart how the people filming this didn't give a damn about getting permission/authorizations from people being filmed. Evidently well before our era of blurring faces from fear of litigation. Oh, how this unassuming footage demonstrates what pussies we've become! Hah! :)
  • The good ol days..people were happier, the energy was way more positive, time was longer, and Art/Fashion at its greatest.

It is easy to romanticize this place in time but it was an ugly place to survive in.

People were much hotter in the 70s ..back then people would say "you look fine...." We didnt use the word "hot" when referring to someone's good looks.

@ minute: 1:51 the corner of Hollywood & Vine. I worked at the Brown Derby right where she's standing. Oh the memories...

There needs to be more writing on the screen, there's a couple of spots where you can actually see something

At time 2:24, Great Scott, it's Marty McFly and Doc Brown ! Whoa, this is heavy! 🚬
