@kiwihans100 1 second ago The question is; Did Jesus or his apostles or even the early Christians for that matter wear distinctive garments? NO! Jesus said of the religious leaders of his day "They enlarge the borders of their garments" ( Matt 23:5). When Judas came with the guards to arrest Jesus, he was only identified when Judas kissed him". No distinctive, gold braided, purple cassock with mitre, e.t.c! It shows how far from true Christianity the church became, with rituals, robes, ornaments, yet Paul said "We are walking by faith not sight" ( ( 2 Cor 5:7)

I accept Christ and I accept His plan for my life. They won't leave me alone even if I did everything they say

John 21 Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!” 20Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) 21When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” 22Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” 23Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?” 24This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true. Luke 22 31“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” 33But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.” 34Jesus answered, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.”

papal tradition yes; necessity = no. The apostles didn't embrace extravagance and riches, so should their successors emulate.
