  • I have had the pleasure of doing all 45 locks in 2019 on a 48 ft cruiser yacht ! It was on my bucket list ! Thanks for the look back !
  • That was quite interesting! Your explanation of the science behind the operation of the various types of locks was well done in a manner that allows the average person to understand and appreciate it. Thanks for another great video, Steve!🙂
  • Another awesome video! Great job! I hope this channel becomes the new "Canadian" Tom Scott channel.
  • @frtls
    Great video as always Steve.

Crazy that this video popped up today. I just got back from Kirkfield and stayed just a few minutes from the Kirkfield lift lock. We didn't get to see it in action, but now hearing you speak about it gives so much more context. Thanks for doing these videos. I firmly believe it's this type of content that makes YouTube a great place to be.

Great vid! The Lift Locks themselves could be a 1 hour documentary!

I remember seeing the locks in operation somewhere near Fenelon Falls as a boy scout. Another great video, Stewart.
  • @TheWavytree
It was nice to see my town of Peterborough mentioned!
  • @cjhoyle
Great overview. One minor correction: The other marine railway on the system (Swift Rapids) was actually replaced by a single giant lock (the largest flood lock on the system), not a set of locks. It's a pretty impressive lock which I definitely recommend checking out. The challenge is that there are no public roads to get to it, so water access is your best bet.

My sister lives a couple miles from Big Chute. Nice job Steve!

I loved taking the kids to see the Lift Lock. You forgot to mention that this lick is the tallest in the world!
  • @adrncl
Steve, I kindly ask that you go on another road trip to make a video about the proposed Georgian Bay Ship Canal

Thanks!! Love it.. I recall the first time I stopped at Kirkfield and Big Chute..
  • Westminister ponds in London (ON), known locally as Pond Mills, along with some kettle lakes north northeast & just outside of St. Mary's are local geological oddities, like Elora or the escarpment & Hamilton in general, although they are still just small ponds. -also: could you teach us aboot the history Bruce poewr plant?
