I had the pleasure and distinct honor to see Tom on June 8th, 2005, kicking off a tour at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre in Wellington, FL. He had such a wonderful, casual, comfortable rapport with the crowd. It was like spending an evening hanging out with an old buddy. By all accounts he loved what he did right up to the end. Maybe that's why he was so special. RIP.
  • One just one of the wonderful things about Tom is he is one of the only true songwriters and REALLY wrote ABOUT something!! His words spoke SO much that you can't find in songs nowadays. Love you Tom ,miss your light.

Forever missed. Forever loved. Ladies and gentlemen one of the best songwriters that ever lived... Tom Petty... ✌🖤🤘
  • A few months before Tom went on to join Roy and George at the next Wilbury's tour stop, he and the Heartbreakers played the Boston Garden. Being a working musician/one man band, I hardly go to shows because I'm always gigging. I heard about this show and got a gut feeling I should go because I'd never seen them and how much longer would they realistically be touring? Anyway I was playing a few days prior, had put the Petty show out of my mind as it would have been too expensive taking the night off, plus the ticket, plus parking, food, etc...This guy who I'd just met and was requesting Tom Petty songs was talking to me on break, said he won tickets but had no one to go with as he was from out of state. Before I could even think about it I said I'll go( he was a Tom Petty fan so he must be cool enough to go to the show with ). Went to the show, sat right behind Benmont Tench and got to experience what it was like to be a member of America's greatest Rock and Roll band playing to a sold out Boston Garden. Best show of my life made possible by Divine Intervention....Thanks Tom for the music , thanks Dave for the ticket and thanks God for giving me that gift.
  • And THERE GOES THE GREATEST American “Rock & Roll” band OF ALL TIME ! God Bless ya Tom ! There will NEVER BE ANOTHER like YOU !

Thank you for posting the this Album. Some of these songs I haven't heard since they played as the " House Band for Dub's Lounge" here in Gainesville, as I was blessed to grow up with these guys. R.I.P. my beloved friend Tom. Rock on with the God and the Angel's in Heaven, along with with Howie Roy, George, Johnny, Bo Diddley, and the rest that went before you and have since joined you. We will meet again.🎸💘🎤🎹🎶🐊

That voice is attached to my soul. That’s the only way I can explain my love and admiration for Tom Petty
  • I was in London celebrating my birthday with my family after ages on not seeing them. He died that day. We all sang songs and toasted his wonderful contribution to our lives for many years. I cried...

Never heard the Last DJ. WOW! So true. I started as an announcer at the age of 17 back in 1989. We were still playing music off reel-to-reel machines and some vinyl. A few years after that automation came in and everything was pre-recorded. Took the live vibe out of it. Radio has never been the same. That song is spot on.

One of the greatest concept albums of all time. Underrated, underplayed, and under appreciated. Mike Campbell is a complete badass!
  • I don’t know how a GREAT BAND like this starts out so good and 40 some years later they ARE EVEN BETTER ! But By God these guys DID what NO OTHER band has even come close to doing. I mean any band can BE MADE to sound in a recording studio. The true test is LIVE PERFORMANCES and NO ONE even comes close !
