If you have clicking, popping, or grinding in your shoulder, there are 2 things that you must start doing everyday that can help to eliminate this problem. They take less than 5 minutes, they’re incredible simple, incredibly effective, and Dr Jared will show you how to do them in this video.

Most clicking and popping in you shoulder comes from one of two things - either a release of nitrogen built up in your joint fluid (think like popping your fingers) or a tendon that snaps in and out of place.

These problems are fairly minor and super simple to correct with the exercises I’m going to show you in this video.

However please note that if there’s pain associated with your clicking/popping or if there has been a recent injury that caused it - those are signs that you could be dealing with a more significant problem and I would encourage you to get that checked out by a local healthcare professional.

Problems that might not respond as well to these exercises and would necessitate a professional consultation include a labral tear and arthritis.

1. STRETCHING FOR SHOULDER POPPING

The first thing you must do in treating your popping shoulder is to get it stretched out. If the structures in and around your shoulder are too tight this can cause the clicking and popping sensation you’re experiencing.

We need to get the shoulder seated properly in the socket to promote better movement and decrease pinching and catching.

The areas that our shoulder most-often gets tight are the anterior (front) of the capsule and inferior (bottom) of the capsule.

The stretches presented in this video are the ones that I recommend to best stretch out these areas.

2. ROTATOR CUFF STRENGTHENING FOR SHOULDER POPPING

The second thing you must do to eliminate shoulder popping is strengthen your rotator cuff. While the stretches get rid of the popping in the short-term, it’s destined to come back if those are all you do.

Strengthening your rotator cuff through the right regular exercises will not only help the popping now, but keep it away long-term.

I'm new to your channel and so glad I found it. I'm dealing with a partially torn rotator cuff I sustained from a shoulder separation (bad ski crash) 18 months ago. I really like the stretching you demo as well as the rotator cuff strengthening routines. I'd love to see a video of putting it all together; like a complete shoulder program. Thanks!
  • @ChrisSirico
I’ve been doing the exercises from this video for close to a year, and I hardly notice shoulder pain anymore, even when climbing and doing throwing sports. Thanks!

It’s mostly adults here but I’m 10 and had been having this like twice a week and has helped me alot
  • Within a couple of days, these stretches eliminated popping sounds coming from my shoulder. Thank you so much for making this video!

I'd like to say thank you very much. This video helped fixed a shoulder problem I had for a very long time (10+) years. The poping, grinding and pain kept me from wanting to try the gym again. The poping is significantly less and I have ventured back into a weight/lifting point in life. Thank you sir!

Thanks for this video. I’m going to try these exercises. I’ve always had clicking and popping in one shoulder. It used to be uncomfortable with certain weighted exercises at the gym but improved with time. It recently started up again.

Can not thank you enough my left shoulder been causing me slight pain and popping past few months did these just once and iv not felt this good in months definitely continuing doing this
  • My wife told me to leave a comment thanking you. I live in Japan where there's a language barrier for me. I went to the doctor and had an Xray for my shoulder pain and he just said Im old and have 40 shoulders. I was 38, now 40 Ive dealt with the pain. But after a week of trying this, the pain has really subsided and I can finally reach my right arm across my body or reach backwards without grimacing. I can't wait to see how I feel after a month.
  • Glad I found this video, I accidentally searched for "shoulder makes pooping noise" and the first few hits were rather unsavory.

I found this video by accident. If it works out well, I'll be back and praise you and thank you.

I don't know if there is another PT video that works immediately as this one on Youtube. This was right on point! Thank you!
  • As a baseball and basketball player, my right shoulder has clicked and popped when I rotate it, and I just figured that was normal aging. Also sprained my biceps tendon a few years back. Just did these stretches and for the first time in 30 years, there is NO POP 😮 Amazing! Thank you so much!

I’ve had right shoulder problems since 2020 when I hurt it working out. MRIs showed no tear, but multiple doctors couldn’t tell me exactly what’s wrong. Since then, there’s popping whenever I lift and lower my arm. It becomes painful if I do it repeatedly. Working out leaves my shoulder with a dull ache and it also fatigues faster than my left one. I stumbled upon this video today and just finished doing the stretches/exercises. They felt great! The latter 2 exercises were tough for me, but they felt good. I also noticed that with each set my range of motion felt a little more comfortable. I look forward to continuing with this routine and will update with progress as time goes on!

  • @navinbhaloo9139
These exercises really helped me with both shoulders. Thank you very much. God Bless you.🙏
  • @colinwood9088
I know I’m a year late but I just did these exercises and it truly did stop the popping. I weight lift and some very minor pain in my right shoulder and I did these exercises and it truly helped. Keep up the work man.
