  • Matsui was such a great player and a fan favorite during his tenure with the Yanks. The fact that he was able to grab this game by the balls and cement his legacy is just absolutely legendary. Go Go Godzilla!!! 🦖

Im 27 and just re-watching this again now. I was 12 watching this live at my home in queens. This made me feel so nostalgic and i havent felt that in forever!
  • My dad was at this game when I was 4 and I remember staying up waiting for him to come home
  • Growing up in New York as a little kid watching my favorite team win was one of my greatest memories in my life I love the Yankees this team was fantastic and they are my hero’s
  • Matsui was like Reggie Jackson when it came down to the post season. They lived for big games as players.
  • This takes me back to my childhood. Living in New York in 2009, going to Yankee Stadium with my Dad, those times I will never forget
  • That Yankees team was absolutely loaded some of the best starters of their time Sabathia, Andy Pettite, AJ Burnett and the greatest closer to ever play Mariano Rivera
  • @k-160

the 2009 Yankees won the A.L East with two best records Best record in the A.L and baseball's best record
  • November 4th, 2009 I turned 19 and this was the best bday present. A lot of us were so lucky to grow up watching the Core Four, and for each of them this was their last WS win, which definitely makes this one special. The Core Four have 19 WS rings all together, which is incredible. And to top it off not only was this the first year playing in the new Yankee Stadium, but it was also the last time The Boss got to witness his Bronx Bombers once again becoming World Champions before passing away the next year. Go Yanks!
  • I was born 2003 November 8, I was just about to be turning 5 years old when they last won a championship. I’m now going to be 18 soon and I’m still waiting for a 28 championship 😞
  • What blows my mind is that Brett Gardner made 65 million despite being league average his career Damon made about 100 mil despite the same. It’s crazy how much guys made before modern analytics. The 2010’s definitely changed though, Jeter and Damon both got the reality check hard in their contract years.
