plastic bags used to be allover Kenya such that they were a major source of pollution so they were banned and we turned to mainly paper and cotton based bags. we do not regret that.

Funny that the YouTube algorithm should recommend this video tonight, because just yesterday I had a similar conversation with some folks over dinner. I am Kenyan and recently moved back after spending 10 years in the U.S. and the past 5 years in Sweden. People always ask me how it feels to be back home and I always tell them that while it’s great to be back amongst family and friends, I’m really struggling to come to terms with how poorly managed and disorganized our country is. Constant power outages, the road to my house that has potholes the size of craters that have not been repaired in years, I need to have private health insurance because the public healthcare system is absolutely dismal, I could very easily list another 25 basic necessities that I never even once had to worry about during my time in Sweden. And the reasons these problems exist is not due to a lack of funds but rather due to societal greed, corruption and the grave misuse of public funds. So while it is true that people in Scandinavia may not realize how fortunate they are to live in a part of the world where ones basic necessities are already taken care of and everything generally just works, the same but opposite holds true here in Kenya where the majority of people haven’t experienced anything other than poverty and misery and therefore don’t know in their hearts that they truly deserve and should expect better. hoppas du njuter av din tid i Kenya :)

So where are you from and what was your purpose of going to Kenya. I wish bloggers could put in their description some information about themselves and reasons or purpose of their trips.
