  • Bono’s emotionality wrenching voice is so beautiful.
  • The most underrated U2 song and video IMHO. The guitar licks and industrial backdrop are a classic.

It never ceases to amaze me how a group of kids, early 20s, could write such a profoundly moving piece of music. I understand that age doesn’t matter, but this is remarkable. I bought it when it was new and it will never get old.

This came out in 1981, and it's now 2024. Still one of their best songs! First one of their songs I ever heard as well.
  • The good old days of early MTV where we saw videos from U2, Duran Duran, INXS, Simple Minds, The Fixx, Ultravox, Prince, Adam Ant, Devo, David Bowie and many others

80s U2 is just amazing, great riffs, thumping basslines, big vocals

First song of theirs I ever heard, and have loved ever since. Bono's voice is just stunning. 👍
  • This song never loses its impact and sheer joyfulness.
  • My god, I forgot how much I love their early '80s stuff, so raw, passionate and spiritual with that touch of inner Irish rebel!
  • Many U2 fans will want to kill me for what I'm about to say, but for me October is their best album, hands down. A tremendously underrated album.
  • "Gloria, in te Domine, Gloria, exultate. Gloria, Gloria." The best Latin lyric line ever. Translate: "Glory, in you Lord, Glory, exalt him. Glory, Glory."
  • My all time favorite U2 song on many levels. From Adam's slap-bass to the anthem vocals to Larry's unique drums to Edge's ringing guitar and most importantly... to the message. This was U2.

Still one of the best ending power choruses ever recorded IMO. The first time around out of the bridge is majestic - Dublin accents, Celtic melodic lilt, and explosive youthful hopefulness at full tilt. It just never loses its power. Play on boys.
  • Best song by U2...when they were still pure.....genius guitar...love it! So profound....when faith was childlike!
