SUBSCRIBE to help our unintentional ASMR collection grow bit.ly/UASMR and hit that 🔔. One of the best unintentional ASMR videos for sleep. Up there with John Butler ASMR and our most popular unintentional ASMR medical exam videos we've featured, comes the best unintentional ASMR scientist we've heard yet, Prof. Russell Stannard.

We’ve always been fascinated with science related videos as they really make great for accidental ASMR gold. What’s even more appealing is a science video voiced with a very soft spoken British accent! Luckily, we’ve come across this unintentional ASMR video as suggested by one of our followers, Lee. This relaxing explanatory video features British Professor, Russell Stannard, as he talks about the mind, space, and all things science. Full credit goes to Professor Russell Stannard and The Open University, and its online learning platform, OpenLearn.

-- Our Edits --

In this compilation of science learning videos, we removed the music at the start of each video, as well as a few times where Professor Stannard’s voice is raised for certain words to ensure that you only hear his gentle voiced moments. We also tidied up the audio by editing out a few sections where there were some loud moments, as well as non-relaxing parts, to specifically edited to maximize the relaxing ASMR effect of this video while you sleep. Hope you like the changes! Please let us know what you did/did not like in the comments below.

-- Original Video --

Russell Stannard is a retired high-energy particle physicist, currently holding the position of Professor Emeritus of Physics at the Open University. In this compilation of ten videos, Prof. Stannard talks about subjects ranging from free will and determinism, to space and the nature of time, in this 10-part series, Boundaries of the Knowable. • PART 2 of our Russel Stannard ASMR series is here: https://youtu.be/kxL2VIsC_y0. Thank you again, Lee, for this great video playlist suggestion! Check other one of our space videos from before https://youtu.be/1tkM-Ml7hwE. Nothing beats science videos explained by a British scientist! We're excited to know what interesting space facts you learned. Let us know below!
  • This man was truly amazing. He died age 90 on July 4th 2022. His legacy will live on through opening minds to the fascinating subject that is science. Rest in peace, shining star.
  • "What can a brain know about itself" is wild when you realize your brain is the one amazed by that statement.
  • @dylancope
Rest in peace, Doctor Stannard. This was wonderfully presented, and he clearly had a fascinating mind.
  • You want him to put me to sleep but in 5 minutes he taught me more than all my science teachers combined
  • @StylesheetP
The only thing better than unintentional ASMR is interesting unintentional ASMR.
  • @Friedtoenails
This video is not just asmr gold, it is tremendously informative
  • @whiskii
This reminds me of one of those shows that airred on BBC2 when you were off sick from school back in the 90s.
  • @merro05
Him casually taking a penknife out of his pocket to test pain was a plot twist I was not expecting.
  • @sarah5953
Me: this is perfect. Time to sleep! Also me: no wait I want to know everything
  • @teasp00ns
I love this video so much. I have horrible nightmares and insomnia, and I’ve fallen asleep to this video dozens of times. He has a such kind way of explaining increasingly complex concepts. If there’s an afterlife, I hope for him it is somewhere he can do as much exploring and research and learning as he wants
  • @aprylljay
This is wonderful. It's like a old cotton blanket that smells like sunshine
  • @alanna4858
Guys, he didn’t cut the worm in half!! He shows you it at the end and talks to it telling it that it’s had its fifteen seconds of fame and it’s back to work in the garden!! No worms were hurt in the making of this video!! This is my new favourite video. He’s wonderful. Wonder if he knew Minsky ?
  • @seanb103
he doesn't know it, but i've adopted this man as my grandfather
  • This Professor is very brilliant. Some of the questions he poses shows that he knows a hell of lot more than we do, but he humbles himself to say he doesn't even know a lot of what he wants to know. Also, he is smart enough to keep the math out so as not to bore and confuse the layman. Well spoken, and thanks to him for putting this together.
  • @jadav1987
When I was a boy my mum bought me his books called 'The time and space of Uncle Albert'. They're children stories where Professor Stannard taught science through Uncle Albert talking to his niece Gendanken. 25 years later I still remember them and how he made complex physics fun and accessible. Thank you and rest in peace professor.
  • @johnbowles5399
I wonder if people this intelligent and deep would be offended if I fell asleep while they were talking talking to me? It's genuinely not through boredom, it's literally because they have a calming relaxing manner, AND are discussing such fascinating subjects. If anything my falling asleep should be the ultimate form of flattery to them. 😉
  • @SybilNix
“Consciousness poses a big, big problem” It sure does, Mr. Professor. It sure does.
  • This video is utter perfection. This man is the storyteller I aspire to be.
