THE BRONTES | A Biography, Wildfell Hall, and my confused relationship with Wuthering Heights

Published 2024-03-12
In today's video, I wrap up some of my February reading by talking about some Bronte-related books I read. I give some quick thoughts on a biography about Charlotte Bronte, my thoughts about Anne Bronte's The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (mostly spoiler free), and get side tracked talking about my mixed feelings with Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights.

Books mentioned:
Charlotte Bronte: A Fiery Heart by Claire Harmon
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

I love the Brontes! I've read all their novels and am working on their (and their brother's) poetry next. A really fantastic biography of the whole family is The Brontes by Juliet Barker - have you read it? One of my favorite biographies I've ever read. I also have a book of the family's letters that I want to read (also edited by Juliet Barker). The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is probably my favorite Bronte novel, but Jane Eyre is right there, too. I agree with you an all points about Wuthering Heights! 😆😆
  • The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is so good. I've only read it once, but your review makes me want to pick it up again.
