I’m a bigger fan of the Stellaris’s compass, a four dimensional model, with Authority vs Liberty, Materialism vs Spiritualism, Xenophobia vs Xenophilia, and Martialism vs Pacifism. With four dimensions instead of two, it’s possible to explain why two ideologies are at the exact same spot on the two dimensional model, since they are still at different locations on the 4 dimensional model.

People never think about the fact that politics shifts and what is considered “right” and “left” or Up vs down in one country or time period can be drastically different when in comparison to other time periods or country’s. Like it amazed me when I learned that “liberal” the way most mainstream media and society views it in the US as left wing. When in reality liberalism is so much more complicated than that especially when you compare American liberalism to classic liberalism and others.
