I came here for a number of reasons. My wife passed away last summer and I need to get back into shape. I really don’t want to go to the gym for the sake of saving time and I’ll be moving into a smaller place so resistance bands are exactly what I need. Thanks for demonstrating the different uses of the bands. I too was caught up in the numbers game of lifting and working out. I’m not going to do that anymore. Thanks again.

Excellent! I am 60 and I have been using bands for the past 3 years. I have put on nearly 40 lbs of mostly muscle and I work at it every day. I haven't been in a gym for at least ten years, yet, I look better now than I ever did from working out in a gym. I AM my workout. I don't need a gym.

One thing I appreciate about James Grage - despite his fabulous build etc. - as a coach (videos) he never talks down to his listeners - despite his obvious accomplishments he comes off as just being one of the guys.
  • Just opened my pack of bands and sitting here wondering what exactly to do with them, now I know. Really helpful video. Thanks.
  • James, this is the clearest training on bands I have seen to date. You packed a lot of fitness education into 22 minutes. Thank you.
  • Great explanation. I've watched quite a few people trying to explain the advantages and use of resistance bands and most I've turned off (even shorter videos) before the end. This is one where 20 minutes flew by. No ads, no quirky intros, no chatty repartee, just 100% information clearly and succinctly delivered.

Resistance bands - the most underrated and underused way to build muscle.

One thing one has to realize when coming from weights to bands from a powerlifter's perspective is that you need to get out of your ego and head and work on the contractions. Personally, once I got over the amount of weight I was lifting and focused on the contraction and lowering the resistance on the bands I got a much better muscle activation and better pumps. Great job James... 👍

If you have to use the anchor on an inward open door. Put the anchor on the side of the hinges. Much more stable and even if the door opens most anchors wouldn’t fit through the gap.
  • You are a great teacher James! Loved the clarity, common sense, and restatement of your info! Awesome!
  • I’ve been working with fitness and food supps since 2011, and I have never, never seen someone showing such a passion and love for what is doing like you do. I am really impressed by the way you believe in what you do and by the enthusiasm you put in doing it. If I would lived in the US it would be really fantastic to work with/for you. Thanks for these videos and for inspiring us all ❤
  • I am an old one - Female/ 71 -and realizing that I MUST exercise to get my strength and muscle tone back. I've been roaming around all the videos out there and your's is the best explanation I have seen in support of the bands. Now where do I go for an actual exercise routine for a senior who is active but out of shape. Golf season is coming and I have lost my fire power.

I watch a lot of training videos (including yoga and kettlebells) and I found this video incredibly informative and inmediately useful. Best introduction to resistance bands i've come across so far.

Fantastic video. Thank you. I'm trying to recover upper body strength after bilateral shoulder reconstructions and resistance band training seems to be the safest way to go. Thank you for going through things slowly and explaining pros and cons and options. Really appreciated. Thanks so much mate.

I had been interested in resistance band for a while now. I even own a resistance tube but never really used it because I didn't know how to use them efficiently. I came across your videos and realized how versatile resistance bands really are! I just did a bicep workout with my resistance tubes and man, the pump is real! It really feels different than free weights. Super nice way to switch up and shock my muscles with these things!
  • Ive been doing resistance bands for 2 weeks along with planks and burpees. What i like is that you can target different areas accurately depending on the your form and you dont need 100 different types of equipment.

James! I just bought the Undersun Build Bundle, and I could not be happier. I wanted to take a moment and give a shout out to you, your wife, and the crew. I'm in my late (late) 40s and am a life-long martial artist. I did my first workout with the bands today (thanks for all the content here too, man!), and the manner in which the moves access the muscle groups/bodyweight is brilliant. Looking to build those fast twitch muscles, and I can truly see how this will enrich my training and how it will be a set of "weights" I can work with as I move into my 50s, 60s, and beyond. So much better and more adaptable (to me) than TRX for what my needs are. Side note, I dig your philosophy, and we are, it appears of similar mind in approaching things. Be well and thanks again, Peace.
