  • No one really knows what goes on behind closed doors and a lot of family secrets are taken to the grave ๐Ÿ˜ข
  • There are lots of families around the world whose lives are portrayed in this movie. Perhaps it's a good idea to let all ES and HS pupils see it so that they can be able to recognize and understand the nature of ABUSE, and abusive relationships. It may allow authorities to rectify it before it becomes caustic to the point of destroying lives forever.
  • The movie was a horror flick that represents to many of our lives. The better part was reading the comments after watching. What we grew up with, as normal, has been shaded from what made us who we are; good and bad and extremely sad!

Unfortunately, absolutely relatable and the trauma I'm trying to heal. I've been on this healing journey going on 3yrs. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

It is very sad to see anyone being treated less than they deserve...kids growing up in homes full of abuse and violence....i see to many stories about this ever single day....unfortunately allot of abused children take this trauma into adult relationships or struggle with anger issues..i wish these movies and others like it could be a class when students are old enough to understand....we have history lessons about the past ...isn't it more important to fix a future?.....all children should know what love is...young and old... we need more programs to teach real life scenarios...GOD BLESS all his children.
  • There's no way I'd ever leave my kids with them FREAKS! I could tell right away something very wrong in that house!!!โ˜ โ˜ โ˜ โ˜ โ˜

If you want to get totally depressed, watch this movie. Good acting, interesting twist, but so, so sad.

This was a very powerful movie about multi-generational abuse. ๐Ÿ˜ข
  • The broken ballerina with a pivotal spot in this movie. Just like the broken unicorn in Tennessee Williams story โ€œ The Glass Menagerieโ€. The ballerina meant something very deep to the grandmother. Why didnโ€™t he finish that subplot? And the dog. What are we left to believe? And once again the Sheriff is left pining for the girl that he has always loved.
  • What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I always thought my father was a hateful old man but learned the reason he despised us girls (six of us) is because he was the oldest of five sisters and my grandfather, a VERY mean drunk who died of liver cirrhosis before I was born, doted on them and brutally beat my dad daily for who knows why. I always thought he hated us but he always provided for the family, two boys and us six girls, THAT was the only way he knew how to love us. I love you dad, thanks for doing your bestโค
  • If anyone would have stood up to that cowardly, vicious, old man, preferable before he married that poor woman and made her life and her children's lives hell on earth, it might have broken the cycle. Where was the sheriff of that town, he had to know? Where was the priest, he had to know? Where were the school authorities, they had to know? The people that had the authority and power to stop the abuse didn't. Shame on them. Heartbreaking movie.
  • Wow, what a movie! Sad but powerful. Thanks for sharing! Blessings to all in love and light!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

How could that father/husband even think of bringing his family to that house? I brought my 10 yr old son home to my parents house for Christmas one year. Never again! What was I thinking?!
  • @TheDoxa2god
Wow. I'll never complain about my family again, that's for sure.
  • Wow, this movie is so good. And it's so eerily similar to events in my life. I don't think I've ever seen a movie that made me feel such intense emotion and I'm only 30 minutes in. Seeing the mother cry in bed made me start balling. I even got a little choked up when the dad was yelling about his peace and quiet. Edit/added: I looked up the reviews on this movie and the ratings are horrible. It has 1.5-3 stars everywhere. Looking at comments and my own opinion those rating do not reflect what people really think about this movie.
  • 38 minutes in and I am really upset: WHAT THE HECK is wrong with that mother?? Those in-laws of hers are horribly damaged people that are not to be trusted, and she runs off to her friends house and leaves the kids there alone with them??? She should take them EVERYWHERE with her: Grocery shopping, her friends, everywhere.
  • Why would the parents bring the kids to live with such an abusive granddad.
  • @judybevers5557
Oh my goodness, Tom Skerrittโ€™s performance was POWERFUL! Iโ€™m going to have to go watch a few episodes of Cheers with Edmond Drake or Steel Magnolias to see him as Drum Eatenton so I can see his beautiful side again. LOL. This is a compliment to him and his full range of acting talent. Wow! ๐Ÿฆซ
  • Thomas Skerrit (aka the father) He gives a very strong performance in this film
