My Akira manga panel animation in the style of the amazing 1988 film is done! This is based on one of the panels from Katsuhiro Otomo's manga Akira. Very happy with how this turned out. Animating a roll door being torn apart was more work then I imagined, but worth it in the end!

I've worked on this from time to time in the past five month's. This is also the first animation I've done that I completely finished in 4K, and I think I'm going to do that with every work from now on, because it works better then 1080p.

The original reference manga panel is taken from the third volume of the Akira manga, page 52 (though that number depends on your copy or language version). I’ve always been fascinated with the original anime (also directed by Katsuhiro Otomo) and the manga. It was the first anime I ever saw, when I was 13, and it is still easily one of the best, with very detailed and dynamic animation.
