Sodom's fate according to the Watchtower

Published 2011-06-26
Hopefully real truth will become known someday, and then we can decide what we will do with it.

Video starts by showing how the publishers of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society view themselves as Jehovah's sole channel of communication on earth, while at the same time admitting to mistakes they've made. They do not claim to be infallible, yet we must accept their current teachings in order to survive armageddon.

WOW. The biggest goosechase ever! Thanks for this thetruthrover. There's another video I saw called "Jehovah directs His Spirit Annointed Earthly Organization" ( I think that's the exact title) that touches on this in a Gary Larson "The far Side" sort of way. It had me rolling.

@thetruthrover - I really like the way you put that. I've never seen anyone say it so simple and direct. I wrote you 2 pms before seeing this response, and i think you'll find them interesting responses. I wanted to even write a 3rd as something else crossed my mind after I sent the 2nd. LOL But yes, the WT worst enemy isn't an "apostate", but it's their own literature. When you can use their own printed words against them, it's clear how much lying they've done, & will continue doing.
  • @propagandatechniques Should read: "keeping them in a state of confusion, left with only the hope they will one day have full understanding."

@RODikUlus i think i have seen that video; and there are a couple of others that focus on this particular flip-flop. i wasn't aware of the watchtower's inconsistent past until i saw videos such as those. i understand that as a person (or group) learns, sometimes they must change their views. but to go back and forth on an issue, and each time print it as 'fact', detracts from that person (or group's) worthiness and good reputation.
  • @thetruthrover "However, it may have seemed to some as though that path has not always gone straight forward. At times explanations given by Jehovah’s visible organization have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view. But this has not actually been the case. This might be compared to what is known in navigational circles as “tacking.” By maneuvering the sails the sailors can cause a ship to go from right to left, back and forth, . . ." (Watchtower, Dec. 1, 1981 p. 27, par. 2).
  • @thetruthrover I think it was put together by men that interpolated some things and extrapolated others. Some things seem to be wild interpretations of perhaps something else, like the serpent in the garden, for instance.

@propagandatechniques You may indeed be right. But even if that is not the case, why is it the Society has to give 'judgments' on such matters in the first place? Personally, i think they had it right the first time; back in the 50's. (That is, if these crazy stories even took place the way the bible says they did.) What is your opinion of the bible?
