While staying at Wren Cottage we took a ride to the National Trust property of Beningbrough Hall located a short way north of York. We enjoyed a walk around the estate and alongside the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Nidd before having a wander through the gardens around the Hall itself. The gardens here are known for its collection of rare varieties of fruit trees and soft fruit bushes. While most of the borders were past their best there were many dahlias adding colour to the scene.
