HA HA! This reminded me of a scene in the 2014 Godzilla movie where the military had to retrieve the nuclear warhead that was taken by the male MUTO. It's basically sitting in a huge crater in the middle of the city, so they sent a special detachment to go get it. The funny thing was that on their way to the objective they were sneaking around from building to building in tactical formations. I'm like "Yo! You guys aren't fighting the Taliban, you're fighting a pair of 20-story tall monsters that have already wrecked half the city. I don't think you need to do CQB at this point."

I love you guys. My dad is a disabled Vietnam Vet, and the shit y’all do reminds me of watching ANY military movie with him. I’ll never forget watching a movie with him where one of the soldiers had a picture of his wife in his helmet, and he took it off to look at it, and my dad yells “Put that shit away man, that shit will get ya killed!” Brings me back to my childhood lmao. During the Siege of Marawi by ISIS in the Philippines, it took more than 24 hours to rescue trapped civilians. I agree, a rescue mission of this scale against a superior force is gonna be hell.

Before I got out of the Corps in 2010 I along with about 200 other Marines from 2/1 got to be extras in this movie. We got to meet Aaron and the actor playing the LT.

I’ve heard from a lot of people who haven’t served saying this movie was awful but most vets I’ve spoke to about this movie say it’s pretty good, heck my grandpa who served in Nam said this was one of his favorite movies since it was a good vs evil fight with no grey in the middle. This is also one of the only movies I know of where the invading alien force isn’t extremely overpowering compared to the marines on the ground
