I met Paul McCartney in 2000 on an MTV Party for Madonna. There were tons of celebrities there so everyone was very relaxed. I got a chance to talk to him one to one at the bar. He was such a nice and normal person. He made me totally forget that it was actually him. He introduced me to his family and they were all so sweet. Stella McCartney made a song out of my name "Rico" from the top of her head. I hung with him the whole night alongside Royston Langdon (lead singer/bassist of Spacehog. Later that night Cheryl Crow‘s management ask Paul if it was ok for her to meet him and she came up to him completely nervous and jittery. They thought that I was part of his entourage 😂. They started asking me a lot of questions about him😅, when he left to go to the restroom. He came back looking for me because we were talking about music influences and bass players, he wanted to finish the conversation! Later that night, Fieldy from Korn joined on and it was a night of the bass players🎸✨…such a solid gent Paul McCartney!
  • I heard a great story from Colin Hay from men at work. Paul McCartney and Hay are friends and Paul and his wife were in LA. Hay heard he was in town and invited Paul to dinner at his house. After the meal hay had to go into his office to make an important phone call. When he came back Paul McCartney was doing the dishes in the kitchen sink. Hay said about 2 weeks ago a young musician asked him how do you know you’ve really made it in the music industry? He thought about it and said when Paul McCartney is in your kitchen doing your dishes - you’ve made it!!!!

I love how not one of them had a bad word to say about him. The man's a legend IMHO.
  • I've met Paul back 2005 in Rye; even had a drink with him, so down to earth, unlike some famous people.

I enjoy Paul's stories of the Beatles. Like the one when John walked home and saw people playing cards in their front yard at early hours of the morning.

A friend of mine whom I grew up with became a famous chef in NYC. This is 1989 and myself and another Beatle freak went all the way from Florida to Madison Square to see Paul. I was so nuts I forgot to even call my friend the chef. A week later, I see said chef and he informs me that he catered the wrap party - and at the end when things were winding down, Paul called out for the chef - the room parted like the Red sea and Paul came over to HIM and shook his hand, telling him how great the food was. I asked "Which hand did he shake?" and then told him to pass it on to me. I am an idiot - McCartney is the whole, entire, galactic reason I became a guitarist - and the chef says "Oh, shit, you could have been at the party as my guest"!. OMG. The pain. I have a second birthday - 02/09/1964 after I saw the Beatles on Sullivan ... and I just wrote a new tune for Paul.

I almost met Paul, but was denied by backstage security at the last door, but I did hang out with Jack Nicholson at that show, he danced and sang every word. I met Ringo at a guitar player's AA meeting, he was there with Barbara to give a speech about how he went from the ambassador of LA in the 70's, when John was out there and he told candid in depth honest stories of him and Moon and Bonham and then how he got sober....really was amazing. That group had Slash, Robert Downey Jr, Scott Weiland...funny thing was, I was at rehearsal prior to the meeting, drinking a couple tall boys, wearing a Jack Daniels hat and a "Legalize It" shirt, and my guitarist pointed at the Beatle poster I had behind my kit and was like, "you should go to my meeting tonight, one of them will be there"....I was like "Ringo is coming?!" (I knew it wasnt Macca) so we go, i stink like beer, wearing what I mentioned, and I see RDJ standing out front, so I go say hey (I had been to a couple of the group's meetings, and had struck up a rapport with Downey, recognizing me at sight) and I see Starkey sitting right there, front row. Insane. I pretend not to see, and mid conversation with RDJ, I make the Oscar award winning move of mid sentence, "Is that fucking RINGO?!". as if I didnt know. lol RDJ is like "yeah...how fucking cool is that? You should go say hey" and so i did....shaking his hand a million times as I stammered how I play drums because of him, and how great The Beatles are, and he's like "last time we handshake" lol, then I call my pops to brag that I met a Beatle before he did, and he's like "get an autograph", and Im like yeah, why not?! (At an AA meeting lol) I ask, he's like "no, tonight Im just Richard" and I felt stupid. After his speech, I go up to him and apologize, tell him how great his speech was, and again, Im such a stupid super fan, I should have known better than to do that at an AA meeting, and he puts me at arms length, says "shut up", and gives me a hug...and I was like a fucking 12 year old girl. lol Oh and the best Macca story is him and my brother, Taylor Hawkins (RIP) getting denied at a post Grammy party. lol and Robert Downey Jr is one of the greatest people alive. Very very cool dude. Idk what Id do if I met Paul, but he seen it all. He's the biggest entertainer on the earth, bigger than Jagger, bigger than Grohl, bigger than Taylor Swift....and has been for 7 decades. When he leaves us, the magnitude of his career and how insanely talented he is will be front and center, and it will suck to lose the greatest songwriter of all time (Lennon is my personal fave, but its not even a debate who farts hits)
  • My friend met both Billy Joel and Paul McCartney backstage at radio city, they were so nice to him and took time for pictures and a chat
  • Amazing and funny stories. It’s so cute how Paul still got embarrassed when he was caught singing one of his own songs. And the fact that Linda used to pick him up on a horse is hilarious. 😂
  • Nice that after the 80s when he seemed a bit passé, in the 90s he got the respect he truly deserves. When we look back musically, The Beatles will be up there with the greatest cultural influences of the 20th century. If only Mr Lennon had lived on to fuel their rivalry in song writing and partnership.

15 years ago, I was a Dial-A Ride driver in SoCal. Every Sunday morning KLOS radio station had "Breakfast With The Beatles" 3 Hours of nothing but Beatles music and interviews from people that had stories of meeting or interacting with the 4 members. Being behind the wheel most of the day listening to all the stories and music One particular story really stands out being almost improbable and or unbelievable. In the early1970's at the beginning craze of the super popular TV show, "Happy Days" Paul McCartney wanted to meet Henry Winkler, (The Fonz).  So, Paul's agent contacted Henry's agent and set up dinner with Paul's family and Henry's family. The dinner went well, and both enjoyed each other's company. When they were leaving the restaurant, paparazzi and a mop of fans rushed to get a closer look and get autographs. When it was discovered that the fans were only interested in getting close to Henry Winkler, it was Paul McCartney that was holding the fans away from Henry Winkler. It's an almost unbelievable story, because who could ever come up with a story where Beatle-Paul McCartney had to do crowd control for another celebrity. Crazy!
  • Paul macartney is the most talented human alive….everybody is in awe of him

#11. An English writer waited for hours at Paul's MPL office. Writer asked if this happens often. Receptionist replied, it does because he's Paul McCartney.

I know many people who know, who have met and some who have worked with McCartney. Every single one of them says how great a person he is and astonishing how down to earth he’s always been considering the ridiculous amount of fame and press attention he’s had for his whole adult life.

I was hustling for a flight at O'Hare International in Chicago and was running hard around a corner only to meet someone doing the same. We bumped into each other hard and both fell to the ground on our butts. It was Mary Travers from Peter, Paul, and Mary. I looked up and started to say aren't you....and she jumped up and said, "Hold that thought...gotta go!" And off she went. My brush with celebrity was a short-lived and only a bump...and she didn't even write! Ha!
