  • 31:24 - 31:33 "Other sports have what we call a competition yellow. I think we oughtta have that! When there ain't no competition, we throw the yellow!" 15 years later, the notorious Steve O'Donnell announces a 20-minute caution clock for the Truck Series.
  • This was when Gordon really got into championship form. Through the first 4 months, he had 1 win (though he came oh so close to 2) and was lagging a bit behind Dale Jarrett. Then he goes back-to-back here and Michigan, then goes back-to-back again at Brickyard/Watkins Glen.
  • The race that started Jeff Gordon's momentum for his 4th & last championship.
  • 1997-2006 was some of the best racing. The back of the cars were higher so the car tryna pass doesn't lose aero.
  • This car was given to Jimmie Johnson the next year and he won this same race in 2002.
  • At 31:23, be careful what you wish for. DW jokingly suggests something NA$CAR does all too frequently these days, and it's one of many reasons I don't watch anymore. Thanks for uploading the real thing!

  • Love the little Monster Mash video at 16:01. Definitely saw it as a kid, because I distinctly remember some of those NASCAR clips and where they synced up with the song.
