  • Nothing fucks you up like a British Xmas advert. They're murder on your tearducts
  • FYI John Lewis was a real shop keeper who left his store to his employees. It's a co-operative with the staff the share holders and decision makers. So when you want to speak to the owner, the person at the till could very well be one.
  • @grover6662
Showing real emotion equals a “real” man, in my opinion.
  • John Lewis is the GOAT when it comes to Christmas ads. Sainsbury’s 2014 Christmas ad was excellent, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Christmas truce. Perfection.
  • @celine4evauk
I've worked for Sainsburys for the last 20 years. I remember watching the war advert at work a few days before it aired. Must admit, i was bloody proud of that one! One of the greatest adverts ever imo!
  • @tgtan
I'm in my 70s and have been alone most of my life. Watching you guys made me feel less alone! Thank you.
  • @jillosler9353
The beauty of our Christmas adverts is that they aren't saying "Come and buy from me" but rather that they tell a beautiful, tear-jerking story linked to love and kindness.
  • @theaces3697
well yes that Sainsbury ad was based upon the real Christmas truce
  • @daiman56
I have not commented before but, respect to you both for showing your feelings with these adverts. Real Men.
  • John Lewis are known for their tear jerker adverts. Every year they get the nation close to tears at Christmas.
  • I looove that trampoline ad! It was a hedgehog, not a porcupine, BTW. The World War I trenches ad was based on a true story - British and German troops did put down their guns for a while on Christmas Day and met and played football. And there's no shame in letting your emotions show - that's what real men do.
  • Hedgehog 🦔 on the trampoline. Oh and I think you’ll find the football match did happen in WW1 1914
  • @greypossum1
I am an older Aussie guy and I look forward to Christmas just to see the latest John Lewis commercials each year. My favourite was the one about a sneezing dragon. I don't know what year it was but they all make me cry with joy.
  • This had me in tears. The man on the moon and the old man at the end. When I first watched the man in the moon, my mum was here......Now I'm an orphan. I'm usually fine, but she's just so far away and I really felt that, for a moment.
  • @aicarnie
Don’t be embarrassed guys. I’m sitting here crying my eyes out. The people behind the John Lewis adverts are absolutely brilliant. Sainsbury’s are trying hard to catch up and have raised their Christmas advert game big time in the last few years. Christmas is the time when we can put aside all the pettiness in the world and come together. If only we could keep it going for the rest of the year.
  • Honestly if I ever need a good cry I YouTube the ‘Man on the Moon’ John Lewis ad. I descend into a puddle of tears… I’m talking ugly crying tears every single time. I think it’s just beautiful 🙈💜✨
  • @Steve-ys1ig
John Lewis's Christmas advert - the Bear and the Hare is my favourite - it is magical
  • Real men cry. Wouldn't be human if we didn't. Love your reactions & vid lads 👊 John Lewis have become the "Kings of Christmas" adverts for a good few years. The anticipation for the reveal of the annual Christmas advert is palpable.
  • @jonarific8504
John Lewis is a workers cooperative store. Think fancy chain department store. It never did TV advertising for years because it considered it beneath itself. It's first foray was a Xmas advert and it pulled out all the stops and is now part of UK culture with its own cliches. Slow paced acoustic cover of a well known song covering some warm Xmas message with a kid pulling at your heart strings.
