I remember watching this as a kid and thinking “that’s not the Groudon I remember....”
  • @Vavalry
Fun fact when I first saw this movie I called this Pokémon “Suckdon” since it was a Groudon that sucked up Pokémon with its tentacles.

I had purged this from my mind and then this happened. Need another 10 years to purge this again.

Virus groudon is 787 feet tall. It’s the largest “Pokémon” by a long shot.
  • Virus Groudon: "Hello Godzilla from Shin Godzilla" Godzilla: "Hello Virus Groudon from Jirachi Wish Maker" both transform into demonic, grotesque monsters capable of destroying cities
  • I personally believe that when the rune that "Groudon" was supposed to be born from was just drawn incorrectly and that the slight error caused a horrible mutation, creating a mindless being that hungers for organic matter, assimilating it in a vain attempt to "purify" itself, and that the only bit of Groudon that's actually there is its vague appearance of Groudon. That's just what I think at least.

The whole virus groudon felt like an homage to the headless forest deity sequence in princess mononoke which was also caused by human greed and selfishness which negatively impacted the environment around it. Trees and animals died whenever the gooey tendrils of the decapitated night walker touched them as it looked for its head. Pokémon basically did a family friendly version of that entire sequence (since nobody died)

I've always loved that the anime was willing to do crazy off-the-wall stuff like this. The idea that a creature like that could exist in the Pokemon world is awesome.

jirachi mind: hmm how should we kill it? audiance: blow it to tiny pieces jirachi; ok

I remember watching that film as a kid and being surprised why virus Groudon was never in the game. It would have an amazing final boss for a post game villian and better represent the environmental message of RSE

"He should have just went to GameStop" and those were the wisest words my ears have heard

Third act: we stop your kid friendly pokémon game to bring you: Shin Godzilla!
  • @PauloJrchannel
That movie was actually one of the first Pokémon related things I've ever watched when I was a kid, so I actually meet this Groudon before the normal one.
  • @AlbertKimMusic
Honestly as a kid, I thought that was just the normal groudon lol. Then I saw an episode with an actual groudon which is not even a quarter of a size of the virus groudon which made me kinda disappointed
