Let's take an epic look back at the last 10 Summer Olympic Games and their Balance Beam Champions! The balance beam is a rectangular artistic gymnastics apparatus, as well as the event performed using the apparatus. The beam is a small, thin beam which is typically raised from the floor on a leg or stand at both ends. The balance beam is only performed by female gymnasts. Beams are usually covered with leatherlike material, and are only 4 inches wide. Enjoy watching!

Whoever did the camera work in 1984, I just wanna talk

@20:31 Till this day I'm still mad at whomever decided to zoom only Sanne's face during an iconic turn named after her 😭
  • @ansonpang
Catalina Ponor was really confident and stood out... and Sanne for originality.

I'm really glad sanne wevers won Rio because her style totally different than all previous champions. Even now her routine is still so refreshing and graceful to watched. She will be always remembered as presenting the most original and elegant beam routine My other favorites are Shawn, Catalina, silivas and shannon p/s: silivas was so cute!!!!

Catalina is the queen of the beam in my book, soo elegant, Sanne is sooo original and lovely to watch as well :)

Silivas was amazing! Her technique and routines were so elegant yet powerful. Plus that girl deserves a 10 for that mushroom cut perm.

Wow, I loved Daniela Silivas and Shannon Miller. They both had such unique routines. Silivas’ mount was amazing and I loved the way Miller connected her elements in a different way. They not only were acrobatic, graceful, and powerful, they also were really entertaining and eye catching to watch.

Silivias moves and flows on the beam like a gymnast, then out of nowhere she randomly throws in an 80s robot move, awesome! 🤖😁👍

Shannon Miller, Catalina Ponor and Sanne Wevers's routines are my favourite!
  • I love Silivas's mount! And her routine is so "smoothie", so fluid!
  • @AmberDoubleU
Zooming out on that second routine would have been nice! Can hardly tell what she’s doing!!! 😡

Tatiana Lysenko is so elegant and beautiful.... ❤️❤️❤️ of course, all of them are excellent and beautiful.
  • Liu Xuan was absolutely the Best! Incredible difficulty, beautiful execution and a delightful artistry. Twenty years passed since her Gold Medal and no other Balance Beam Champion reached the same level. Legend!

Totally enjoyed Wever's routine. She looked like she was dancing. So refreshing to see those elegant spins and aerials connected and the dismount was unique. Getting tired of the robotic arm/leg movements for points. She brought art in artistic gymnastics.

Daniela Silivas was so clean and powerfull ! She makes me proud that i am Romanian .
  • @firefalcoln
That backflip with a full twist that Shawn Johnson did is insane. I’d be totally impressed to see a gymnast do that on the floor. Doing it on a beam is next level.
  • @iliair
Catalina Ponor 2004 is soo perfect!

Shawn Johnson's balance beam routine will always be my all-time favorite. The opening triple sequence leaves you breathless - not to mention the standing full!
