This is brilliant. I love the concept and the execution. It brings designers and customers together in a way that crowd sources interesting ideas, and so long as you've got a sufficient contract reward it seems like you'll get a plethora of high quality designs. From there you're like a kid in a candy shop. Furthermore, I've looked this up, the site permits iterative design process. It allows you to pick a few candidates and have them submit more polished designs. Very cool.

Logotournament is a great idea for college students trying to break their way out into the design world. Especially if they have a lot of down time. On Chris’ point, this is a lot of work but the site is setup more for bragging rights as to whom creates the most/best designs. With the ultimate reward of being paid for your hard work. It is a neat concept for almost any event startup business.

I had never heard of logo tournament before, but this seems like it can offer tremendous benefits to small businesses as well as designers. A small business can get the design they want at an affordable price by being able to pick from possibly a few hundred submitted logos. This is also a great way for someone looking to get into graphic design because it gives them real world experience in design and they have something tangible they can show for job interviews in the future.

Chris is right, there's little advantage to the designers that doesn't win, however this is how lots of advertising is done for large companies. In fact, this is not far from any kind of contractual work. This is essentially a visual "Request For Proposal/Solution". Hopefully the designers will incorporate their bids into their portfolios, as so their time isn't completely wasted. This kind of service depends on a community of designers willing to work on speculation. -Lee
