With so many different diets to choose from, it can be hard to understand what the best way is to feed your body. We often avoid certain diets because of misconceptions where we believe we’re going to miss-out on flavour and variety or find some too hard to stick to.

Debunking some of these myths today and exploring everything from mediterranean to keto, is Professor Christopher Gardner.

Hailed as the Godfather of Nutrition, Christopher is here today to delve into his groundbreaking research conducted for the new Netflix’s series ‘You Are What You Eat’ - the study of plant-based vs omnivore diets in pairs of twins.

Discover which diet comes out on top so that you can make the best choice for your body.

  • Allowing a pop tart, or some other CRAP (Calorically Rich And Processed) "food" is like saying to a recovering alcoholic: "You have stayed away from drinking all week, you deserve a drink" or to a smoker: "You have not smoked all week, you deserve to smoke a cigarette." Do you see the insanity!?

Whenever I see Prof. Gardner on youtube I listen! Can't wait for his book.

I am 74 and have been a raw foodist for over 24 years. Eating only fresh raw food and drinking only water will facilitate radiant health. Thank you both for this great presentation, you rock!
  • Gardner is great! A very engaging scientist. My food choices are not just about me and my health - it's about the animals ❤, and the environment, too. Thanks for this- keep learning all the time.
  • Great interview and a lot of great information. I went whole food plant based five years ago for health reasons, and never looked back. Thanks for doing this interview. 👍🙏🙏

Cook oat groats in a zorjirushi rice cooker on the brown rice setting. Texture is chewy like brown rice.
  • So Dr. Gardener completely confused me. I’ve been watching Esselstyn and love his videos. Dr. Gardener who is Plant based said that Esselstyn’s diet increases your triglycerides and lowers your HDL. What’s the difference between plant-based diet Gardner is eating and the plant based diet is eating ? Gardner said the Esselstyn diet is high in legumes, nuts and seeds so is Dr Gardner not eating nuts and seeds? I wish he would’ve explained the difference. I rewatch that section several times but couldn’t get a straight answer. So confused right now.

0:57 um... those 7 pillars of Health are not connected to the 7th day Adventists' pillars of Health, is it? If it is, that's scary, if it's not, you might want to consider a rebrand.
  • What does the doctor do to the wheat berry before using it on a salad? I would like to do this!
  • @SWLion26
Just subscribed, good job getting Christopher Gardner and very informative interview. And thanks for chapter breakdown.

An addendum to Dr Gardener’s comments about bread: there is some evidence that sourdough bread has a lower GI than that prepared with a faster fermentation, and that sprouted grain breads (which actually don’t use flour) might be lower still. Another way in which the food matrix and preparation method matters.
  • Could you share the name of Christopher Gardner's new book? I'm having trouble finding it on Amazon
  • For me I’ve been much healthier and fitter since going vegan 8 years ago. ❤😊
  • Most people don't need to follow any special diet. If you really pay attention to your body, it WILL tell you something you are eating is not a good idea. For exemplee, if you nearly always have digestive issues after a specific kind of meal, then break it down and try each components alone to figure out the culprit and remove it. Taking on weight? Look at the calories and carbs, then cut one food for a week and se if there is any positive change. If not, take it again and remove another. That's it. Over time, you will create your own super diet.
