Not exactly “savaged” - Brandon Williams can barely speak. He doesn’t even know what he’s saying. He’s just trying to insult Pete – but Pete is too smart for the room.

He said the Secretary sufficiently dodged answering the question but every time Buttegieg tried to answer he talked over the secretary and interrupted his answer to try to discredit him which was his aim all along.

To become an Air Traffic Controller can take up to 5 years. To upgrade to a TRACON Controller takes up to 8 years. Eight years ago it was 2015. So to overcome the TRACON Controller shortfall, recruitment and training needed to occur in 2015. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Pete Butigege was Secretary for transport back then. What was done in the years between 2015 to 2023 to overcome this shortfall ? Who was the Transport Secretary then ? When you inherit a manpower problem, you handle it on a day to day basis as best you can, while implementing plans to overcome it over an appropriate time frame. When it takes 8 years to train a controller to TRACON standard, you cannot fix the problem overnight. A pathetic case all round of Mr William’s making a speech consisting of inaccuracies and cheap shots and trying to disguise it by asking questions that he wasn’t interested in hearing the answers to. The Government of the USA is no better off for this Q&A session. Sad, really.

Pete is more effective and intelligent than any of the commenters on this video. I bet a lot of them are very insecure that a gay man is far more successful then they are.

The government, of course, shut down ATC training during Covid, during which time a lot of controllers retired seeing as how they are forced to retire at age 56, and seeing as how only the best controllers can work in the insanely busy NYC airspace, it doesn't take a genius to recognize why NYC TRACON is at 56 percent staffing. The fact that the government allowed that to happen is completely absurd.

This shit is way better than Any shows turned out by the networks any day. Who needs writers and actors when Congress is funnier and crazier than anything the clowns in Hollywood can dream up .

Republican congressmen should know by now to never debate with Pete. There is not one person in Washington DC who can compare with his intellect.

It appears to me that Williams is the one that was savaged. It's not surprising though he savaged almost all the Republicans during this hearing.

Let the SECRETARY answer your question/statements instead of talking over him. VERY POOR COMMUNICATION!

he's the problem. why are there not enough ATC's? Because butte sheet requires DIVERSITY hiring- requires hiring not just race but lgbtq and hiring people into atc training that did not pass test requirements over white males how had training for aviation who wash out of training, resulting in ATC's. Hiring is only once per year - for academy training opportunity. Washout rate is very high. More individuals admitted to training equally standing would result in actual air traffic controllers actually working. more opportunities more success and competent employees. ATC's cant retire - working o t - because there r no replacements. Butt sheet hasn't hired or made training available

The best answer Mayor Petey could give to any questions asked of him is " I'd like to plead the fifth if I may " . The man was a joke in South Bend , and now he's a bigger joke in D.C.
