The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N ($78,199 starting in Canada, $66,100 starting in the US) is the first EV to receive the N treatment from Hyundai. A dual-motor, all wheel drive system makes a maximum of 641 horsepower and 568 lb ft of torque. To live up to its N counterparts, the Ioniq 5 N sees numerous performance focused improvements over the normal model. This includes some serious things like fully redesigned suspension, meatier tires, and exterior design elements to help with cooling and aerodynamics. But how does it handle the track? And is it worth the price it asks? Thomas and James are excited to find out. We hope you enjoy the episode. And then subscribe, silly.

Huge thank you to www.carhub.ca for loaning us their Urus

Hyundai/Kia is not only seeking recognition…it’s pushing boundaries like no other. Their competitiveness has made the industry much better. Haters will hate.

When this car was first released I fell in love with its design. This new N now is a whole new level. If back to the future was made today this would be the car to star in it!

I don't understand people who criticize that the engine sound and gearbox are all 'fake'. Hyundai has added “options” for consumers that other companies do not offer, and most importantly, the experience is fantastic. It can be transformed into one of the world's best family EVs at any time, but when you want to drive, it becomes the world's most fun EV to drive. It presents a completely different paradigm to the electric vehicle market, which has so far been obsessed with horsepower or 0-100 time in seconds (of course, IONIQ 5N is also quite fast at 650 horsepower and 3.4 seconds). Hyundai's experience will be a huge competitive advantage in how to bring the positive things of internal combustion engines to electric vehicles in the near future when internal combustion engine vehicles will be banned (EU etc.)

This car feels like it is video game driving in real life.

Internet: "EV's are boring tho" Hyundai: "Hold my Kimchi"

My wife got an Ionic6 a few weeks ago and being the first EV I've driven, I'm totally sold. So much fun to drive. Can't wait to replace my CRV in several years with a fun new EV.
  • @nulltrope
I'm legitimately happy Hyundai have been killing it these last few years.
  • @MajorMacaroni
This car has a faster Nürburgring time (only by a few seconds) than the Urus as well. Which means it is overall a faster car. That's wild to think about.

“If it’s Beyond meat and it tastes like meat and I save a cow! Why wouldn’t I do it!?” Omg I was DYING! 😂
  • Brilliant review. -And for the first time in the past 25 years, I've FINALLY heard the CORRECT way to pronounce "Hyundai" from a reviewer. THANK you, James!!!! That is EXACTLY how any VP of Hyundai (I was our local Cali company's service "face" to them for their micro-chip division, back then -to pronounce their own company's name.. even when they made crappy cars but good memory chips.) This is a great car... (Kinda expensive, but brilliant.) I love your reviews, and have for over a decade. Just so damn honest and real.

The most entertaining and informative car YouTubers on the planet, and James pronounces Hyundai correctly. Pinch me.

If the Ioniq 5 N is this good i can't even imagine what the 6 N would be like

I'm so proud to have a car brand like this in Korea nowadays, after all the hard times we've gone through since the Korean War, when we were a small country in the East. I bought the Elantra N after watching Hyundai's WRC motorsports video. If you want to see and feel Hyundai's real technology I highly recommend Hyundai's Genesis and N brand vehicles

14:40 it's like another British car guy who once said "So I went on the Internet, and I found this ..."
  • @harrison4ever125
Dude the minute you put it into N-mode and got on it I immediately had an uncontrollable smile. That thing is a LIVING VIDEO GAME.
  • This video actually got me emotional, it is purely amazing to see that there are still car makers who make vehicles with car guys in mind, and it actually looks so good, I’d love to see one in real life, cause here it looks like a hatchback with absolutely oversized wheels, and you guys keep bringing some of the highest quality videos on the car scene, I am absolutely one or your biggest fans for that, appreciate all the work you guys are doing, and when we feel like you’ve reached your highest point regarding quality, you keep surprising us further. Keep on doing what you are doing, you guys are beyond great.
  • I don't know if cars have been getting better, but your reviews certainly have. Never disappointing, always informative and always fun to watch, so thank you 🙂
