“This isn't about healing your body. It's about healing the way that you look at life and how you approach life.”

John first felt the pains in 2020 – like a knife in his gut. Shortly after, doctors diagnosed him with irritable bowel syndrome. He found he couldn’t eat everyday foods like rice, eggs, or beans. And, as the condition progressed, he learned to survive on just six foods.

He tried a range of remedies, but nothing worked. So, on a whim, John attended one of Dr Joe’s Progressive retreats. The experience spurred him to meditate two to three times daily. Though he didn’t see much progress at first, he gradually recognized the anger and fear at the root of his condition.

Then John became curious. Could he distance himself from negative emotions? How should he change? His breakthrough came when he understood he had to heal his perspective on life. Today, he’s transformed – and can enjoy any food he likes.

Recorded at the Marco Island Advanced Follow Up Retreat in January 2024

Whilst sitting here listening to your story I’m so grateful, I’ve been doing Dr Joe’s work for a year now & whilst I’ve healed eczema & fungal nail infections I’d had for 30+ years, I’m noticing a new problem, like you it’s IBS & no matter what I eat I bloat & get pain, I’m giving myself permission to heal as I seem to have lost my way a little with the meditating, I know I will be back on this post with an update with good news of more healing, thank you 🙏 ❤
  • For eight years of my life I couldn’t eat dairy. I knew that my stress at the time had triggered this condition. I took digestive aids when I really wanted something that had dairy in it. But one day I said “I’m tired of this! I want to eat dairy again!” So gradually I tried cheeses and they didn’t affect me. Then other dairy. Now I eat cheese and have milk in my coffee and yogurt, etc. without any problems. I knew what seemed to be a loss of digesting dairy products was about stress. That’s how my body expressed my stress for those eight years. I’m aware now that my body is always expressing emotions that I keep bottled up. When I look inside and admit what I’m feeling, my body heals what outside remedies never can.

Your story was inspiring. Almost two years later I’m still struggling to let go of the anger and grief of why is this happening to me. Mine is a skin condition- it’s a struggle as it’s so physical. Rashes that leave a brown pigmentation once it stops being active. I’m struggling to overcome the frustration and have faith which makes it hard to meditate. But hopefully I’ll get through the anger and be able to get to the other side of healing. Thank you

Really good testimonial. I, too, have bloating and stomach upsets and watch what I eat...one slip up and it starts again! What you said made me think about how irritated, frustrated and bugged I am about so many things. I will change my approach and focus on loving, enjoying and appreciating my life. So, a big thank you! P.s. Would love to hear more details about overcoming negativity.

Separate yourself from your environment. What happens out there shouldn't dictate what happens on the inside.

This could be my story but I’m about 6 months behind where you are, nearly identical. Iv just been to a progressive retreat last weekend and something has clicked. Starting to notice symptoms improving slightly and getting much deeper into the work. It really is such a journey and I’m grateful for every step and lesson along the way… This was so inspiring, thank you for the beautiful testimony! Love and light 🤍✨😊✨🤍
